Because it possesses the nature of peace, as well as impermanence in contrast to permanence, and change in contrast to immutability. What are the four? The aging of conditioned things, which fully ripen and decay; the suffering of illness, which transforms the elements; the birth of the next existence, which follows the cessation of the previous one; and the death, which is inconceivable and changes in various ways—these are the four. Because liberation and the Dharmakaya do not have these four destructions, it should be understood that, in order, there is stability because there is no aging, peace because there is no illness, permanence because there is no birth, and immutability because there is no death. Thus it is said. Explaining in detail the excellence of fulfilling the benefit of others: Like this, the stainless abandonment and the realization of manifest wisdom are the support or basis for the arising of white, virtuous, and excellent qualities of Dharma in the minds of those who are in accordance with the capacity of those to be tamed, and therefore it is also the place for the complete fulfillment of the benefit of others. For example, just as the sky, which is not the cause of arising and does not have the characteristics of form, etc., is the cause for the eye sense to see form; and sound, smell, taste, touch, and phenomena are, in order, the door to enlightenment for the ear to hear sound, etc., the nose to sense smell, the tongue to taste, the body to touch, and the mind to understand, and are considered to be the cause. Similarly, in order to see the two bodies of the Buddha without obstruction, through practicing the stable path, the six senses of those who possess the lineage of the victorious sons become the most excellent objects of experience. In the relative truth, by seeing the Rupakaya, etc. (101), it becomes the cause for the arising of undefiled qualities such as signs and examples; in the ultimate truth, by seeing the Dharmakaya, etc., it becomes the cause for the manifest arising of infinite undefiled qualities such as power and fearlessness. Thus it is said. Regarding the meaning of the support possessing qualities, there are two: a brief indication of the categories of names, and a detailed explanation of the reasons. Among these, the brief indication is: unthinkable through hearing, etc., permanent through being unborn, and understanding

Because there is no birth or death, it is steadfast; because there is no aging or sickness, it is peaceful; because there is no death, it is eternal; because there is no suffering, it is supremely peaceful; knowing all that exists, it pervades all knowable things; knowing things as they are, it is free from conceptualization. Having abandoned the obscurations of affliction, it is unaccumulated like the sky; having abandoned the obscurations of knowledge, it is unimpeded in all places and times; having abandoned the obscurations of meditative absorption, it has abandoned coarse touch; being without form, it is invisible; being without characteristics, it is ungraspable; being pure by nature, it is virtuous; being pure from adventitious stains, it is stainless. Possessing the fifteen aspects of ultimate qualities, that is the Buddha who has attained great enlightenment. So it is said. The detailed explanation has two parts: how these qualities are possessed, and the qualities that are possessed should be ascertained. Among them, the way of possessing is: the nature of abandonment and realization, the body of liberation and the Dharmakaya, these two show the accomplishment of self-benefit and (102) the benefit of others is perfect, liberation from all bonds to be abandoned accomplishes self-benefit, and the activities based on the qualities of the Dharmakaya of realization accomplish the benefit of others. Thus, the two bodies that have become the basis for accomplishing both self-benefit and the benefit of others should be known to possess fifteen qualities of merit, such as being inconceivable. So it is said. Ascertaining the qualities possessed has two parts: a detailed explanation of the profound reasons, and an explanation of the reasons for the others. The profound has three parts, among which, the general presentation of the inconceivable way is: the Dharmakaya is complete, it has become the object of the omniscient wisdom alone, and the ultimate Buddha is not the object of the three wisdoms such as those arising from hearing, so it should be understood that the ultimate wisdom body is not known as it is by embodied beings other than the Buddha, and possesses inconceivable qualities. So it is said. The special detailed explanation is: if you ask how it is not the object of the three wisdoms? The ultimate Buddha is extremely subtle and difficult to realize.

Therefore, it is not the object of wisdom arising from hearing. Similarly, since the ultimate truth is to be realized by the self-cognizant wisdom of each individual, it is not the object of wisdom arising from thinking. Since the suchness of reality is profound and difficult to fathom, being ultimate, it is not the object of all consciousnesses such as wisdom arising from worldly meditation. Thus it is said. Combining the reason with examples: Thus, one might wonder, for what reason is the Buddha difficult for ordinary people to realize? Just as blind people have never seen various objects such as colors and shapes, so too, all ordinary people have never directly seen the stainless suchness. And just as a newborn child living in a house, although able to see a little of the image of sunlight, is unable to see it completely, so too, a noble bodhisattva dwelling on the tenth ground, although able to directly see a little of the Dharma body, is unable to see it completely. Thus it is said. Among the subsequent reasons, there are three. The unchanging qualities are: the stainless Buddha, from the very beginning, is free from arising from causes and conditions, therefore possessing the quality of permanence, and because there is no arising for what, there is no cessation for what, therefore possessing the quality of stability. Since birth and death do not cause it to be pacified, therefore the Buddha possesses the quality of quiescence. Therefore, it possesses the quality of being Yungdrung (eternal), because the nature of reality, the self-nature of Nirvana, exists from the very beginning and is unchanging. Thus it is said. The qualities of abandonment and realization are: the Buddha possesses the quality of great bliss, which is the complete pacification of all suffering, because the ultimate truth of cessation, in which all that should be abandoned has ceased, has become manifest. Similarly, because all aspects of knowable things are directly realized, it possesses the quality of encompassing all knowable objects, knowing as many as there are, and
