And, the wisdom that knows that the ultimate reality, the element of Dharma, exists in its own nature, and the great love that arises from seeing the nature of oneself and others as equal to the Buddha, wishing to benefit others. Thus, because the five qualities of virtue arise, from these benefits, there is no fault such as discouragement, and all are seen as equal to the essence of the Buddha. Understanding that the faults, which are sudden stains, are all gone, and that one possesses the virtues that are pure by nature, and the great love that sees oneself and sentient beings as equal in possessing the essence of the Tathagata, by gradually cultivating the path from this, one will undoubtedly quickly attain the supreme Buddhahood, which is the complete fruition of the two benefits. Thus it is said. In the Mahayana Treatise "Uttaratantra Shastra," in the section on distinguishing the lineage of the Three Jewels, the chapter on the essence of the Tathagata, which is the explanation of the first chapter. Now, concerning the element of Dharma, which is free from all defilements, and the Buddhas, the Bhagavat, abide in the uncontaminated realm, considering the complete transformation of all that remains as the fruit. The nature of realization, the meaning of Bodhi, has three aspects: a brief presentation of the categories of the subject matter to be explained, an indication of the method of explanation in a summary, and a detailed explanation by combining these. Among these, the categories of meaning are: (88) The object to be fully known, the stainless Suchness, the great Bodhi itself, which is the complete fruit, is explained starting from the eight aspects of the meaning to be fully known. That is, the element of Dharma previously described as being naturally pure, being liberated from all sudden stains, and abiding in the complete transformation of possessing two purities, should be understood as the very nature of Bodhi. The means to attain the possession of two purities, the samadhi of non-conceptual transcendental wisdom, and the subsequent worldly wisdom, the cultivation of these two in conjunction, is the meaning of the cause. From the complete perfection of the habituation of these wisdoms, the removal of all stains of the afflictions and the obscurations of knowledge, together with their latent tendencies, is the meaning of the fruit. Because of being free from the obscurations of afflictions,

Transcending all decay. Having obtained the inexhaustible wealth free from outflows, one accomplishes one's own perfect benefit; having been separated from the obscurations of knowledge, one is able to enter into everything without obstruction, accomplishing the perfect benefit of others, this is the meaning of activity. The support for accomplishing these two perfect benefits is possessing immeasurable qualities that are inconceivable, this is the meaning of possessing. That very enlightenment which possesses qualities, because it is difficult to fathom, is the profound Dharmakaya; because it possesses many qualities such as power, it is the vast Sambhogakaya; because it solely performs the benefit of others in accordance with their capacity, it is the great Nirmanakaya, being thoroughly distinguished by three aspects, this is the meaning of entering. These three kayas also enter and abide in a manner that is equal to the duration of space and the duration of beings, this is the meaning of permanence. The way in which these are in their very suchness is not the domain of anyone other than the Buddhas, and being difficult to realize, is the meaning of being inconceivable. Thus, it should be explained by way of eight meanings. This is what was said. To summarize: Thus, from the sphere that is naturally pure, being separated from adventitious stains that are to be abandoned, possessing two purities, is the meaning of essence; in order to obtain it, practicing the path of Shamatha and Vipassana, is the meaning of cause; from meditating on the path, being separated from the stains of the two obscurations, is the meaning of result; from abandoning the obscurations, accomplishing the two benefits of oneself and others, is the meaning of activity; the support for these is the meaning of possessing inconceivable qualities; these are also the Dharmakaya, Sambhogakaya, and Nirmanakaya, the distinction of the three kayas is the meaning of entering; these also are the meaning of permanence, being permanent for as long as beings and space exist; the way in which it is ultimately perfected is the meaning of being inconceivable to ordinary people. These eight meanings themselves are the ultimate result, established by the Buddhas. This is what was said. Although there are eight in the detailed explanation, because the first two are explained together, for the time being there are seven meanings: purity and attainment are the meaning of essence and cause, being separated from stains is the meaning of result, the self and others'
