Clearly and completely shown, the Tathagatagarbha is obscured by the sheaths of afflictions that are close to it. If the nature of matter is completely separated, there are eighty-four thousand kinds, and countless distinctions, etc., just like the infinite distinctions of the Tathagata's wisdom. The way it obscures the realm is: The Blessed One said that all sentient beings possess the Tathagatagarbha. What is said is obscured by these nine kinds of adventitious stains, that is, the categories of sentient beings, ordinary people, Arhats of Hearers and Solitary Buddhas, and those who commonly abide on the path of learning, and especially the wise Bodhisattvas, are all not completely pure. That is, according to the order, the first four obscurations, the predispositions of the three poisons, make the ordinary people of the upper realms impure, and the strong arising of these makes the ordinary people of the desire realm impure. One part of the ignorance predisposition makes the Arhats impure. Similarly, what is abandoned by seeing and what is to be abandoned by meditation make the ordinary learners and the noble learners impure. The stains that rely on the seven impure grounds and the stains that rely on the three pure grounds make the Bodhisattvas who have not reached the end and those who have reached the end impure. Because each person mainly possesses these that should be abandoned, it becomes an obstacle to the ultimate manifestation of the Dharmadhatu. That's it. The detailed combination of the respective metaphors is: For example, a lotus flower freshly emerges from the mud, and when it first appears in front of the viewer, it makes people very happy, but soon after it ages and becomes without joy. Similarly, the predisposition of afflictive desire is also, when attachment arising from improper attention manifests, it feels happy, but when it disappears later, there is no joy, so the joy of seeing a lotus is also the same. It is said that the predisposition of desire is like a lotus. Similarly combined, for example, creatures such as bees that are attached to honey,

Just as when a bee takes honey, the mind is extremely agitated with hatred, stinging and causing pain. Similarly, when the habitual tendencies of the affliction of hatred increase, anger manifests, and it also causes painful stings in the hearts of oneself and others. Therefore, the habitual tendency of hatred is like a bee. Just as the essence of grains such as rice is obscured and invisible by the outer chaff and husks, etc. Similarly, the meaning of the Tathagatagarbha, the self-luminous nature of the Dharmadhatu, is obscured and invisible by habitual tendencies of ignorance and delusion, which are like eggshells. Therefore, the habitual tendency of delusion is like a husk. Just as impure things are unpleasant and disgusting places, similarly, for those attached to the desire realm, relying on desirable qualities, etc., is the cause of many misdeeds. Therefore, being filled with the three poisons of affliction, that is, strong manifestations, is like a great heap of impure things, a place to be disgusted and abhorred. Therefore, the manifestation of the three poisons is like impure things. Just as when a great treasure that cannot be exhausted is covered and hidden by much earth, poor people do not know that there is treasure and cannot obtain it. Similarly, for beings who are like the poor, the vision of self-arisen wisdom, which possesses inexhaustible qualities, is obscured and invisible by the earth of habitual tendencies of ignorance. Therefore, being encompassed by habitual tendencies of ignorance is like earth. Just as the shoots, trunks, and branches of trees gradually grow, and the seed husks gradually fall off. Similarly, by gradually seeing the ultimate truth of the Dharmadhatu, the afflictions to be abandoned by seeing will gradually cease. Therefore, what is abandoned by seeing and what is abandoned by cultivation are like fruit peels. Because of the direct connection with the nature of the Four Noble Truths of the Noble Path, therefore abandoning
