Regarding the three summaries, the brief explanation is as follows: For example, the unconditioned space pervades all conditioned phenomena, and although it is universally present, it is very subtle, because it is not a coarse material object. It is never tainted by the faults of form, such as impermanence. Similarly, the luminous Dharmadhatu, the Tathagatagarbha, as the self-nature of mind, pervades all sentient beings, because its self-nature is pure. It is also never tainted by the faults of sentient beings, such as afflictions. The above is a brief explanation. The detailed explanation is divided into five points: the arising and ceasing phenomena of the dharma-possessor, the indestructibility of the dharma-nature, the way they abide, the way they transmigrate in samsara due to sudden factors, and the immutability of the self-nature. First, the arising and ceasing phenomena are: For example, all forms of the external vessel-world depend on the open space. Initially arising and forming, and ultimately destroying and disappearing, but space has no arising or ceasing. Similarly, due to causes and conditions, the unconditioned Dharmadhatu, the Tathagatagarbha, depends on the unchanging nature. The inner senses of sentient beings initially arise and develop, and ultimately destroy and disappear, but the dharma-nature has no arising or ceasing. The above is the explanation. The indestructibility of the dharma-nature is: For example, conditioned things are burned by the three fires of the end of time, hell, and nature, but the unconditioned space has never been burned by all three fires. Similarly, sentient beings are burned by the three fires of death, etc., but the heart-essence Dharmadhatu will not be burned by the fire of death at the end of time, the fire of disease in hell, and the fire of aging nature. The above is the explanation. The way they abide is divided into: metaphor, meaning, and the combination of the two. The metaphor is: When the world is formed and exists, the great earth-wheel depends on the water-wheel, the water-wheel depends on the wind-wheel, and the wind-wheel depends on the space to abide. However, space does not depend on causes and conditions, therefore, the wind-wheel (38), the water mass, and the earth

It is said that neither the aggregates nor the elements, nor any compounded phenomena, abide by relying on it. The meaning is that, like the example, the five aggregates, the eighteen elements, and the twelve sense bases, along with the defilements of birth, abide in the causes that produce them—karma and defilements. Karma and afflictions, and the conceptualizations of holding impermanence as permanence, etc., which are unreasonable thoughts, abide constantly. However, unreasonable thoughts abide by relying on the luminous nature of the mind, the naturally pure dharma realm. However, the luminous nature of the mind, the ultimate reality of suchness, because it is uncompounded, unreasonable thoughts, afflictions, karma, and the defilements of birth, etc., these temporary phenomena never abide by relying on anything. That is what is said. Combining these, just as an earthen mound is formed by relying on water, the five aggregates, the twelve sense bases, and the eighteen elements, along with the aggregates of appropriation, should be understood to be accomplished by relying on karma and afflictions. Just as the water element becomes the cause for the accomplishment of the earthen mound, know that the defiled karma and afflictions of sentient beings are the cause for the accomplishment of the five aggregates, the twelve sense bases, and the eighteen elements. Because unreasonable thoughts can completely provoke karma and afflictions, one should view and recognize it as the wind element becomes the support of the water mound. The nature of the mind, the Tathagatagarbha, is like the space element that supports everything but does not abide in anything; although it is the support of temporary phenomena, its own nature does not depend on any basis and does not abide anywhere. That is what is said. The way of wandering in samsara through temporary phenomena is that, for example, just as the wind mandala abides in the sky, the conceptualizations of unreasonable thoughts that grasp things that do not conform to the reality of things obscure the luminous dharma realm of the nature of the mind.
