for the reason. As it is said in the Śrāvakabhūmi: "If someone asks, how does one differentiate? It is differentiated by how many objects there are for purifying investigation, the objects of the wise, and the objects for purifying afflictions. And existence as it is, is what thoroughly differentiates. When the mind with wisdom, along with conceptualization, apprehends characteristics, it is complete conceptualization. When one correctly contemplates (400), it is complete investigation." Furthermore, combining the three explanations of superior seeing arising from characteristics, etc., from the Saṃdhinirmocana Sūtra, here, the ways of conceptualizing all objects of superior seeing are superior seeing arising from characteristics, because the object of superior seeing is only the image with conceptualization. The ways of realizing that these are without inherent existence are superior seeing arising from seeking, because it is the attention that makes the knowable, which was previously not realized, realized. The ways of becoming accustomed after attaining liberation from the inherent existence of all phenomena are superior seeing arising from individual self-awareness, because through the wisdom of individual self-awareness, after realizing the reality of all phenomena, from liberation, one experiences true (401) bliss, therefore one becomes accustomed. As it is said in the Sutra Saṃdhinirmocana Sūtra: "What arises from characteristics? It is the superior seeing that attends to the image, which is the object of concentration, along with conceptualization. What arises from seeking? It is the superior seeing that attends to the mind in order to realize very well those phenomena that were not previously realized very well by wisdom. What arises from individual self-awareness? It is the superior seeing that attends to the mind, from liberation, in order to experience bliss very well, for those phenomena that have been realized very well by wisdom." Such distinctions of superior seeing are only explained in the Sutras and the Saṃdhinirmocana Sūtra, but (402) the way to ascertain them separately is not found in the Bhāvanākrama and others.

In summary, summarizing these key points, the method of establishing the two selflessnesses is well-known in both Han and Tibetan regions in the Sutra tradition. If these methods are combined with this, then, here, establishing the nature of the mind is the same as the method of establishing the selflessness of the person in the Sutra tradition. In the Sutra tradition, the aggregates with awareness are grasped as the person, and grasping it as permanent and one, thereby grasping "I" and "mine," this is the self of the person. Recognizing that it has no self-nature is the selflessness of the person. Similarly, here, those who grasp permanence and oneness, and grasp "I" and "mine," are regarded as one's own mind-essence, therefore it is necessary to establish that it has no self-nature. Similarly, establishing thoughts and appearances is the same as the method of establishing the selflessness of phenomena in the Sutra tradition. In the Sutra tradition, the aggregates, elements, etc., grasped by the self of the person are phenomena. Grasping these phenomena as inherently existent with their own characteristics is the self of phenomena. Recognizing that it has no self-nature is the selflessness of phenomena. Similarly, here, it is also necessary to establish that the mental factors and external appearances of form, sound, etc., grasped by the mind-essence, these things with their own characteristics, have no self-nature. However, the order of establishing objects and subjects is different. In the Sutra tradition, if the object to be grasped is not established first, the mind that grasps the object cannot be established. As Dharmakirti said: "If this object is not refuted, then it cannot be abandoned." Aryadeva also said: "If one sees the selflessness of objects, one can cut off the seed of existence (404)." It is like this. Here, if it is done in this way, then it is very difficult to re-establish the grasping mind. If the grasping mind is established first, then the object grasped by it, like natural liberation, is easy to establish. Just like the analogy of cutting the root of a tree, causing the branches and leaves to wither, as Tilopa said, all the pith instructions of the essential meaning come from this. The above is from the perspective of insight, explaining the method of guidance. Second, regarding the order of introducing virtuous practice, it is divided into: first, the categories that must be determined; directly introducing co-emergence; eliminating faults and determining the key points of practice, three aspects. First is
