The virtuous friend is the cause of increasing all my white dharmas. One should remember it in this way. As it is said in many other places. If there is faith and respect, blessings will enter, and if blessings enter, the realization of the mind will arise. As it is said in the 《Two Examinations》: "Not spoken by others, born together (藏文:ལྷན་ཅིག་སྐྱེས,梵文天城体:सहज,梵文罗马拟音:sahaja,汉语字面意思:俱生). It cannot be found anywhere. Relying on the master's timely methods, it is known from one's own merit." Also, as Nagarjuna said: "If one falls from the top of the mountain king, even if one thinks not to fall, one will fall. If one finds the path of benefit through the kindness of the master, even if one thinks not to be liberated, one will (248) be liberated." Also, as Je Gampopa said: "This of ours is a lineage of blessings. If the master's blessings do not enter, the meaning of Mahamudra cannot arise in the continuum. There is no difficulty in the master's blessings entering. It enters by relying on having faith and respect and praying. If faith and respect are great, the blessings also enter greatly. If faith and respect are medium, the blessings are medium. If faith and respect are small, the blessings are small. If there is no faith and respect at all, then the blessings will not enter at all. This is the nature of Dharma." It is also said: "For all those who have not generated realization, the means of generating realization is none other than to attend to and serve the master and pray with faith and respect. Those who have generated realization should also have faith and respect for the master and become familiar with him as a means of stabilizing it." It is also said that the way to pray is: "Walking and walking, also pray (249), sitting and sitting, also pray, sleeping and waking, also pray." As such, it is widely known in this practice lineage. Nowadays, in the practice of Guru Yoga, the practitioners of the pith instruction school, if they are making confession of broken vows to the Guru, then they visualize the Guru in front of their ordinary body or on their crown. Otherwise, it is not appropriate to give empowerment to one's ordinary self, so they visualize the Guru as Vajradhara, the nature of all Buddhas, on the crown of their head, which they visualize as their Yidam. They offer outer, inner, and secret offerings such as mandalas, pray with intense faith and respect for the desired meaning, request the empowerment of Samadhi, and finally visualize dissolving into themselves. This method is extremely excellent, it is the path of maturation and liberation.

It seems that many diseases are gathered together. Regarding the place of meditating on the Lama, it is said in the Abhidharma: (250) That Lama who possesses kindness, whether placed in the center of the heart or the crown of the head, or the end of the limbs, the qualities of a thousand Buddhas, that person will also hold. It is said like that. Lord Gampopa mostly said to meditate in the sky in front. Lord Yang Gonpa said: In the sky in front during offering assemblies, at the crown of the head when praying, always the Lama in the center of the heart. He also holds this view. Thus, as signs of diligently meditating on the preliminary practices: Based on meditating on impermanence, attachment to desirable objects, and the thoughts and actions of this life's appearances are reversed, unnecessarily arising in the mindstream, becoming narrow-minded, the eight worldly concerns are pacified, the mindstream is tamed, and so on. Based on taking refuge, the mind is at ease, the mind and heart are joyful, feeling warm, the mind is at peace, and so on. Based on offering the mandala, the complexion is good, the mood is pleasant, even without eating (251) one does not feel hungry, awareness is clear, wisdom arises. In dreams, dreaming of the sun and moon rising, seeing many flowers, going upwards, and so on. Based on the Vajrasattva meditation and recitation, the body is light, sleep is reduced, the elements are healthy, the heart is joyful. In dreams, dreaming of pus and blood oozing from the body, vomiting and bathing, and so on. Based on meditating on the Lama's yoga, even when being near the Lama, wanting to touch the Lama's body. The mind is stolen by the Lama, and the heart is enamored. Wanting to pray day and night. Experience blazes and consciousness becomes hazy. In dreams, dreaming of meeting the Lama, hearing Dharma and receiving empowerment, and so on, these appear in the words of all the Kagyu lineages. Some think that these preliminaries are only necessary for beginners to initially generate meditation, and later they are not important. This is extremely ignorant of the key points of the Dharma, because these Dharmas are (252) the pillars of the Great Vehicle path. Therefore, although only a little has been said here for fear of increasing the amount of writing, it is very important because it is the root of the Dharma and the pillar of the path. It is very important to listen to and think about the extensive Lamrim and so on, to thoroughly determine it in detail, and to strive for a long time. Secondly, beforehand
