It is realized that it is established. Thus, when the two are not established as the essence of anything and do not exist, then the wisdom of the discriminating consciousness itself is not established. For example, when two pieces of wood are rubbed together and fire arises, the two pieces of wood themselves are burned and disappear. After that, the fire that burns them also subsides on its own. In the same way, when all phenomena of self and general characteristics are established as non-existent, then that wisdom itself is also without appearance, clear light, and not established as the essence of anything. Therefore, all faults such as sinking and agitation are eliminated. In the meantime, the consciousness does not think of anything, nor does it grasp anything. All memory and attention are abandoned. Until the enemy or thief of signs or conceptualization arises, the consciousness should remain in such a state. Although what is said is easy to understand, it will be explained a little. When searching for a view at the beginning, all phenomena of grasping and being grasped are examined in the mind. The mind is also examined from the perspective of the three times, or separated from one and many, or separated from arising, ceasing, and abiding, or the clear light of self-nature, etc. (160). After examining and scrutinizing with various kinds of reasoning, it is examined as not established in its own essence. Thus, when the two, grasping and being grasped, are not established in anything and do not exist, then the discriminating consciousness that cognizes is also not established. For example, just as the fire of rubbing wood burns the wood and then the fire subsides on its own, the wisdom of discriminating consciousness also becomes without appearance, clear light, and not established in anything. When such a view is found, the faults of sinking and agitation are eliminated. At that time, the consciousness does not think of anything, nor does it grasp anything. All memory and attention of the mind of grasping and being grasped are abandoned. Until the fault of clinging to signs or conceptualization arises, it is undeniably shown that the mind should remain in such a state. Also in the Stages of Meditation: "Think that all phenomena are without self-nature. That which thinks that there is no self-nature at all is also abandoned by perfect wisdom. In such a state that transcends existence and non-existence, the consciousness is also separated from existence (161) and non-existence, and should be meditated upon without any object." As shown above, when cultivating the view, the definite understanding of analytical emptiness, or the definite understanding of no self-nature, or the definite understanding of no self.
