If actions are confused, one cannot obtain the results as they are, just like a blind person without eyeballs. Searching for such a view is not enough to merely rely on the wisdom of hearing and thinking to obtain an understanding of the scope of the view. It is crucial to primarily rely on the wisdom arising from meditation, experiencing and realizing it in one's own mind. Moreover, the ultimate essence of the stages of meditation is that one must practice with the mind as the object of focus, as stated in the sutras, tantras, and oral instructions. In the Guhyasamaja Tantra, it says, "When examining one's own mind, all phenomena reside within one's own mind. This phenomenon resides in the vajra of space, without phenomena and suchness." The Guru Tantra says, "From being urged by the precious mind, enlightenment is attained by meditating on the mind itself." And so on. The Lankavatara Sutra says, "Relying solely on the mind, one does not examine external objects. From the object of suchness (155), one must also transcend the mind-only. Having transcended the mind-only, one must transcend to the place of no appearance. The yogi who abides in no appearance sees the Great Vehicle." The Ornament of the Sutras says, "From realizing that there is nothing other than the mind, one then realizes that the mind itself is also non-existent." And so on. The Great Brahmin says, "If the mind is bound, it will be bound; if it is liberated, there is no doubt." For this reason, the two great chariot traditions, the stages of meditation of the Middle Way and the oral instructions of the Prajnaparamita, both explain the meaning stated in the Lankavatara Sutra, that is, the yogis who focus on mind-only, focus on suchness, and focus on no appearance. Thus, whatever the stages of meditation of the sutras, tantras, and oral instructions, when initially searching for a view, the wisdom of individual discrimination is indispensable. At the end of the stages of meditation, "All phenomena abide only in emptiness of their own nature (156)," even if that is the ultimate conclusion, without individual discrimination, one cannot realize their emptiness. And so on, many reasons are given for why individual discrimination is needed initially. However, when examining through individual discrimination, eventually the individual discrimination itself must also subside, leading to a state of non-discrimination. As stated in the Kashyapa Chapter Sutra, "Kashyapa, for example, two pieces of wood rubbed together by the wind do not produce fire from them, but it is already present.

Just as burning two pieces of wood, if there is the light of correct discernment, the power of noble wisdom will arise. When that arises, it will burn that very correct discernment. As it says in the *Middle Stages of Meditation*: "Thus, when the fire of knowing reality as it is arises from correct discernment itself, like fire produced by rubbing wood, it burns the wood of thought." Thus spoke the Blessed One. This investigation is not merely conceptual thought with verbal meaning, but must be investigated in the state of meditative equipoise (157). As it says in the Sutra: "When abiding in equipoise, one thoroughly knows reality as it is." And in the *Stages of Meditation*: "When the mind is fixed on the object of calm abiding, if one thoroughly investigates with wisdom, the appearance of the light of true wisdom will arise." Thus, through investigation, the discriminating awareness that investigates also subsides on its own, becoming non-conceptual, not established as any entity whatsoever, which is the actual view of this context. As it says in the Sutra: "That which is the non-seeing of all phenomena, that is truly seeing." And in the *Stages of Meditation*: "What is seeing the ultimate truth? It is the non-seeing of all phenomena." Then, knowing that one is free from the faults of sinking and excitement, without thinking of anything, without grasping anything, without the memory or attention of grasper and grasped, one places the mind in freedom from elaboration. As it says in the Sutra: "In the suchness of the nature of things, placing the mind in suchness, experience arises without being named, that is called samadhi." And so on. Lord Atiśa said: "In the dharmadhatu free from elaboration, also place the wisdom free from elaboration." And: "The dharmadhatu is without beginning or end, with a subtle eye of wisdom, look without conceptual thought, without sinking, excitement, or dimness." This is the meaning. These methods come from Atiśa's Madhyamaka instructions: "Thus, the past mind has ceased and vanished, the future mind has not arisen or occurred. The present mind is also very difficult to examine, because it is without color or shape, unestablished like space, or separate from one and many, or unarisen, or its nature is luminosity, etc. If one examines and analyzes with the sword of reason,
