Since someone said to distinguish, that is very timely and good, so here also it is said like that. At this time, the nature of mind does not establish anything, so it is emptiness; thoughts cease, so it is luminosity. Luminosity and emptiness are inseparable, the awareness like the center of the sky, self-aware by itself. If a definite understanding of conviction arises in it, then the nature of one-pointedness is seen. In the experience of bliss-luminosity-non-thought, although staying in a state of "sale sing nge", if the trick of self-awareness is not included, then the experience of appearing but uncertain is like a child seeing the moon in the water, not seeing the nature. (699) If one goes day and night in the state of bliss-luminosity-non-thought samadhi, accompanied by self-awareness, then the power of one-pointedness is perfected. If distraction occurs in such a state, then the power is still not perfected. When thoughts arise and external appearances manifest, as soon as the thought is grasped by mindfulness, it does not need to be abandoned, but is transformed into practice. If one enters the luminosity of the sleep experience, then conceptual thought arises as practice. If the arising of thoughts and appearances is caught by mindfulness and then re-engaged in meditation, then conceptual thought has not arisen as meditation. If one turns the mind away from the eight worldly concerns, and the external and internal demons are cut off, and one can show various kinds of miracles such as clairvoyance and subduing powers, then the qualities of one-pointedness have arisen. If the mind is unmanageable and inner peace is not obtained, and one cannot show common signs of warmth, then qualities have not arisen. In the post-meditation, with the manifestation of pure samadhi, the subtle and gross causes and effects of the outer and inner appear without error, and if one understands the interdependent arising and practices acceptance and rejection properly, then one becomes skilled in the relative truth. If one does not gain certainty about such interdependence, (700) and is negligent in accepting and rejecting causes and effects, then one is not skilled. In the post-meditation, compassion with an object arises for all sentient beings, and one makes vast prayers for the benefit of others, then the seed of the form body is planted. If one is obscured by various experiences of samadhi, it is difficult to generate compassion, and one strives only for one's own peace, then the seed of the form body is not planted. Secondly, in the time of small one-pointedness, there will arise the cultivation of shamatha-vipashyana accompanied by the experience of luminosity-emptiness-bliss, with fixed grasping and clinging. In that experience, when thoughts and appearances arise, it is mostly like this.

One goes into self-liberation without being able to suppress it, and the mind of decisive knowledge that thinks it is meditation also arises. Sometimes it also happens that one cannot liberate thoughts. Most after-appearances appear as a blur with a feeling of joy. When remembered in post-consciousness, with a feeling of clarity and emptiness, there arises a grasping (701) that thinks it is emptiness and that the mind is appearance. Dreams only become clearer, and there is not much difference from previous dreams. Some people have many kinds of dreams, but the certainty is small. Sometimes it is difficult to maintain balance, and the thought arises, "It seems that I am not generating meditation." Sometimes it seems that good meditation is generated, so virtuous activity increases and decreases greatly. Devotion to the lama, pure perception to Dharma brothers, and compassion to sentient beings all arise. During the intermediate period of one-pointedness. The samadhi with clarity, emptiness, and bliss arises steadily no matter how much one meditates, and sometimes even without meditating, one goes straight into samadhi. In that experience, the appearance of realization is less than before, and whatever arises is self-liberated. In the after-appearance, a vast and empty appearance with a feeling of clarity and emptiness arises. Sometimes it also appears as a blur. In the post-consciousness, one goes straight into meditation as soon as one remembers. In dreams, experiences teach (702) as needed. Some people have fewer dreams. Joy arises in meditation. During the great period of one-pointedness. The samadhi with clarity, emptiness, and bliss arises continuously. All thoughts dissolve into it. All after-appearances disappear into it. Most dreams are absorbed into it. For decisive knowledge with good clinging, many empty experiences arise, such as mind is bliss-emptiness, awareness is emptiness, thoughts are clarity-emptiness, appearance is appearance-emptiness, etc. And many experiences arise that all phenomena seem like dreams and illusions. Some subtle clairvoyance and other contaminated qualities also arise. The thought arises, "There is no better meditation than this," and devotion, pure perception, etc. arise. Thirdly, during the third period of one-pointedness, one should strive for mountain retreats, sealed retreats, and speech retreats. If one is affected by a strong shadow, the mind will not be able to function and wisdom will decline. Even a slight shadow will make the samadhi unclear (703), and many obstacles and faults will arise, so one should be very careful to avoid shadows, and if one is affected by a shadow, one should perform a shadow
