Like space, it does not arise because neither I nor others exist. It follows only the appearance of one's own mind, and sees that external objects do not exist. Because external objects are seen as non-existent, the various consciousnesses have no place to enter. And seeing that the various conditions have no aggregates or accumulations, and seeing that the three realms arise from the conditions of discrimination. Therefore, all internal and external phenomena are imperceptible, and because one sees the absence of inherent existence, the view of birth is completely reversed, and one realizes the nature of phenomena such as illusion, thereby attaining the highest tolerance of non-arising phenomena. This is in accordance with the meaning of yoga free from elaboration. The yogi is skilled in thoroughly realizing that external objects do not exist, and thus teaches the yoga of one taste. In that very text, it says: "Mahamati, how does a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva become skilled in realizing that external objects do not exist? It is like this: all things are like mirages, dreams, and tangled hair. All things arise from the cause of clinging to various forms of habitual tendencies of discrimination from the beginningless time of the abode of suffering of elaboration, and are without inherent existence." Thus, the Bodhisattva sees correctly. This is in accordance with the meaning of the yoga of one taste. Because of faith in the realization of their own wisdom by individual noble ones, the yoga of no-meditation is taught. In that very text, it says: "Mahamati, how does a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva have faith in the realization of their own wisdom by individual noble ones? It is like this: having attained the highest tolerance of non-arising phenomena, they abide on the eighth bhumi, and because they understand mind, intellect, consciousness, the five dharmas, and self-nature and the two selflessnesses, they also attain the mind-made body." This is in accordance with the meaning of the yoga of no-meditation. Similarly, in the Lankavatara Sutra, it says: "Relying on mind-only, do not examine external objects. From the object of Suchness, one should also transcend mind-only. Having transcended mind-only, one should transcend to the absence of appearance. The yoga abiding in the absence of appearance

Attainment. As it is said, "Through this, one sees the Great Vehicle." Its meaning, as explained in the Stages of Meditation and the Instructions on the Perfection of Wisdom, also aligns with the meaning of the four yogas. Furthermore, in the Secret Inconceivable Tantra, it says: "With the samadhi of the lion's mighty roar, single-pointed, unwavering, clear awareness shines forth. Self-awareness wisdom awakens from within, having gained warmth, one has power over birth. The second, the samadhi like an illusion, from the great equanimity free from elaboration, the power of inconceivable samadhi arises. Having attained the peak, growth is continuous and unbroken. The third, the samadhi of the courageous goer, many flavors become one, the realization of the ten grounds arises. The sons of the Buddhas of the three times perform the benefit of others, with steadfast patience, they eliminate the suffering of the lower realms. The fourth, the samadhi like a vajra, from the diligent practice of non-meditation, one attains immeasurable Buddha-fields of omniscient enlightenment. Without seeking, spontaneously accomplished, it is the great supreme Dharma." Thus, there also arises a combination of the four samadhis, the four paths of joining, and the four yogas. Moreover, in the Two Examinations Tantra, it says: "Like the continuous flow of a river, like the tip of a flame tightly bound, constantly, that very yogi, dwells in equality day and night." Like this, with single-pointedness, and "The essence is formless, the seer, without sound, there is no hearer either." and so on, and "Therein is no beginning, no middle, no end, no existence, no sorrow, no passing away." With this, it is freedom from elaboration, and "Meditation is one taste, equality itself." With this, it is one taste, and "There is no meditator, nor is there meditation." With this, it shows non-meditation, the great Brahmin says: "Having completely abandoned thought and what is to be thought, how should one abide in the manner of a child?" With this, it is single-pointedness, (668) "Whatever is thought of as the nature that is free from roots." With this, it is freedom from elaboration, "All flavors are equal in nature, inconceivable, supreme wisdom." With this, it is one taste, "Being free from contemplation, what is there to contemplate?" With this, it shows non-meditation. Representing with these methods, from the sutras, tantras, instructions, and so on, those who teach the samadhi of the mind being single-pointed, that is single-pointedness; those who teach the unborn, the free from extremes, that is freedom from elaboration; those who teach the equality of non-reality, that is one taste; those who teach without acceptance or rejection, and without refutation or establishment,

It should be known that the teachers have taught the path of no meditation. Regarding this, Jeyang Gonpa and others believe that this order of the four yogas is the realization teaching of Dakpo Rinpoche. There are also terms actually used in the tantra sections. Although it is widely known as it is said, the great kindness of distinguishing the experiences (669) of each of the four yogas and the differences between the high and low realizations in detail, making it easy for today's practitioners to understand, is the master Gampopa. The names and meanings of the four yogas seem to have existed before, as shown in the quote from the Secret Inconceivable Tantra quoted above, and the four yogas are also explained in the Coemergent Union given by Jowoje to Gonpawa, and the order of the four yogas also appears in the Dohas of Jetsun Chenpo. In any case, after practicing shamatha and vipassana, many methods of practice have appeared, whether in the past or now, but when experience and realization arise after practice, the standard of measurement and the method of further improvement, and the method of distinguishing between high and low realizations, have never been seen in other lineages like this, so this is clearly an unparalleled feature of the Dakpo Kagyu (670). Second, the meaning of the four yogas is commonly explained, including identifying the nature of the four yogas, and explaining their respective characteristics. The first point is that, in general, regarding the four yogas, Master Gampopa gave to Je Gomtsul, gave to Je Gomchung, gave to Je Phagmo Drupa, and Je Shang, the disciple of Je Gomtsul, and Je Gyare, the disciple of Accomplished Ling, and his disciples, etc., referring to many views, mainly according to the instructions of Je Gompa Chenchung. First, in terms of identifying the nature, Je Gomchung said: Staying still is one-pointedness, cutting off imputations is freedom from elaboration, having no acceptance or rejection is one taste, and pure experience is no meditation. Master Gampopa said: Clear and uninterrupted momentary wisdom is the yoga of one-pointedness. Realizing that the essence of awareness (671) transcends arising, ceasing, existence, and non-existence is the yoga of freedom from elaboration.
