Now, for the most part, it is still necessary to strike at the heart of the matter by taking thoughts as the path. When guarding mindfulness of virtue, although most subtle thoughts will transform into wisdom, within that, some coarse thoughts and post-meditation thoughts mostly cannot be integrated into practice, and most of the time, only a little bit can enter the state of meditation from the gaps of rampant thoughts, and once thoughts are let loose, they often fall into empty talk of self-proclaimed Dharmakaya or wisdom. Moreover, in the stage of meditation free from elaboration, although subtle thoughts naturally appear as Dharmakaya when mindfulness is not distracted, strong thoughts of attachment and aversion are difficult to appear as Dharmakaya, and even in the stage of tasting one flavor, thoughts disturbed by strong external circumstances cannot be transformed into virtue, (629) it is said that this kind of situation occurs from time to time. Therefore, even for profound meditation, taking thoughts as the path is crucial. Nowadays, some people have had a glimpse of meditation early on, but after many years of meditation, they have little effect and become lazy, all of which is because they have not grasped the key to taking thoughts as the path. Therefore, whether it is a beginner or an experienced meditator, one must be proficient in and value the key to taking thoughts as the path. And the key to this lies in being good at using the continuum of thoughts in one's own state, just as Jigten Sumgön said: "If a child can grasp everything, there is nothing better than this. What is it? Being good at mindfulness is being good at meditation." And in the "Yoga of the Continuous River" it also says: "Undistracted mindfulness is the most precious." Like this. Therefore, other paths are branches of taking thoughts as the path, and the root of all paths is taking thoughts themselves as the path, just like (630) an empty fruit, knowing that all fruits are empty, one must understand all the differences of thoughts. Considering this point, Gampopa mainly taught the path of transforming thoughts into Dharmakaya, and considered that other paths are derived from this. The six paths that the Kagyu school divides nowadays, Gampopa did not not say, in the "Five Nails Secret Instructions", this is a record of Gampopa's teachings by the Vinaya holder, which includes: obstacles turned into the path, illness turned

Do not take. Death as path, affliction as path, conceptualization as path, etc., arise. Cutting off the four demons is the deity and demon as path. Furthermore, it does not appear that it has been taught in a scattered manner in other collected works. However, later, Jare Rinpoche extracted the oral instructions of Je Retchungpa from the treasure, named "Taste Equality," which is very famous among the glorious Drukpa Kagyu (631). All such paths have three important key points. First, "recognizing conceptualization" means that no matter what appears, good or bad, no matter how it arises, do not let it dissipate on its own, but first recognize it. Second, "abandoning self-grasping" means not to defile what appears with attachment or aversion, negation or affirmation, abandon the bondage of self-grasping, and do not cling to or view any good or bad, but leave it as it is without conceptualization. Finally, "clearing the dangerous path of hope and doubt" means that after doing so, one will hope to obtain, and if one does not obtain, one will doubt, or one will hope that the path will be opened, and if it is not opened, one will doubt, etc., and one should not have any hope or doubt. If a subtle thought of hope or doubt arises, one should again abandon what has arisen, without fabrication or adornment, and let it go without clinging. Know that these three methods are applicable in all situations of path (632). Third, transforming conceptualization into the path, the oral instruction of taking bad views as aids; transforming afflictions into the path, the oral instruction of transforming poison into nectar; transforming deities and demons into the path, the oral instruction of gathering obstacles into accomplishments; transforming suffering into the path, the oral instruction of bodhicitta; transforming illness into the path, the oral instruction of harmonizing the elements; transforming death into the path, the oral instruction of recognizing the mother and child of dharmata, the first of these six is, as stated in the Two Examinations Sutra: Just as water enters the ear, it is drawn out by other water. Likewise, the conceptualization of things, is purified by determining the distinctions. As it is said, conceptualization purifies conceptualization. The method of purification is not to regard conceptualization as something to be abandoned, but to transform conceptualization into the conceptualization of its own nature and use it as the path. Thus, Gampopa said: For those who do not abandon the conceptualizations of the inner mind, regard conceptualization as kind, regard it as indispensable, regard it as necessary (633), regard it as beloved in the heart. Thus, conceptualization
