Even if one can explain it, it's as if one has gone to another (553) place, and in reality, one has neither truly understood the nature of reality in one's own awareness nor has it landed in one's experience, these are two temporary faults. Similarly, regarding emptiness falling into a wrong path: Because the path of meditation and the result are inseparable, and the very nature of one's own mind is complete and indivisible as the basis, path, and result in one essence, without realizing that the nature of mind itself is the spontaneously accomplished Dharmakaya as the result, now taking emptiness as the path and meditating, one expects to attain another Buddha with the three kayas and five wisdoms, this is a fundamental mistake. Although one can cultivate the practice of meditating on the meaning of reality as it is, one is not satisfied with it, hoping for something else or something better, and searching elsewhere, or adding happiness, clarity, and so on to the very nature of mind and meditating on it, these are two temporary faults (554). Regarding emptiness falling into being an antidote: The nature of what is to be abandoned, the afflictions, dwells in the antidote emptiness, without understanding that the afflictions themselves appear as the antidote wisdom through self-knowing and self-awareness, holding onto afflictions and emptiness as separate, thinking that one must abandon afflictions and separately meditate on emptiness as their antidote, or thinking that one must analyze the afflictions themselves as being without inherent existence through conceptual thought, this is a fundamental mistake. When thoughts of conditioned appearances arise, without cultivating the mindfulness of knowing their own nature, one destroys or suppresses the thoughts and places them in the context of meditation, these are two temporary faults. Regarding emptiness falling into being an embellishment: Without realizing that the essence of all dharmas, such as meditation, method, wisdom, with and without object, dwells within it, one first makes all virtuous deeds such as generosity objects of focus and conceptualization, and then uses rational (555) analysis, or artificially creates non-inherent existence through the meaning of the Svabhava (藏文:སྭ་བྷཱ་ཝ།,梵文天城体:स्वभाव,梵文罗马拟音:svabhāva,汉语字面意思:自性) mantra, this is like a fundamental mistake. During meditation, the beginning and end are not aligned, and one does not integrate it into the path, but only does superficial work, thinking that one is meditating, or without integrating post-meditation into the path, one is distracted beforehand, and then thinks of cutting off the continuation of conceptual thoughts through meditation, these are like two temporary faults.

Therefore, this indicates that all sentient beings are places where meditation goes astray. Secondly, among these places of straying, completely losing oneself in the nature of knowledge is a very serious wrong view. As the great Brahmin said, "Holding onto non-existence is even more foolish." Nagarjuna said, "If one has a wrong view of emptiness, those with little wisdom will be destroyed." This is the great annihilationist view that is spoken of, and its result is being born into the lower realms. "Those who deny existence go to the lower realms." Gampopa also said, "(556) The emptiness of the nature of knowledge, even if free from attachment, does not understand the meaning." If one strays into other places of straying, although it will not become such a wrong view, it will not become a thorough practice of the state of affairs, so one must avoid straying. That which is called Mahamudra is that one's own nature is unborn, existence and non-existence, permanence and annihilation, are empty of all phenomena such as falsehood, so nothing is established, but its radiance is unceasing, appearing as various conventional interdependent relationships. Therefore, knowing that emptiness is the essence of interdependence and that interdependence is the nature of emptiness, one will not stray into emptiness in the nature of knowledge. As it is said in the Root Wisdom, "There is no phenomenon that is not interdependent. Therefore, there is no phenomenon that is not empty." In the Explanation of the Mind of Enlightenment, it says, "Conventionality is explained as emptiness, emptiness alone is conventionality." Likewise. Furthermore, the nature of ordinary (557) awareness of Mahamudra, knowing that it abides as the master or essence of all phenomena such as ground, path, and result, one will not stray into emptiness on the path. As the great Brahmin said, "The ground, the path, and all the Buddhas are of one taste. This primordial wisdom asks mind of mind." And, "Whatever spontaneously arisen wisdom that is inconceivable is meditated upon, all results will be meditated upon." And, "The unobstructed result abides within oneself from the beginning. Likewise, one does not need to be bound by the antidotes of hope and doubt." Aryadeva said, "One thing is the essence of all things, all things are the essence of one thing." Gampopa said, "This self-aware essence, clear and empty, is now known to be the Dharmakaya.
