It is said that rigpa is free from conceptualization and non-erroneous, and that it is emptiness of self-nature. In terms of mantra, it is called coemergent wisdom, self-nature luminosity, and all emptiness. In this context, it is called mind-essence coemergent, the nature of mind, and the reality of mind, and so on. The way to abide in equanimity with these is wonderful. As it is said in the Compendium: 'To say that one sees the sky is a common expression of sentient beings, one should examine the meaning of how one sees the sky. Likewise, seeing the Dharma is also taught by the Tathagata, the analogy of seeing cannot be explained by others (524). Whoever sees in this way, sees all Dharmas.' Also, as it is said in the Samtira: 'If one abides in non-conceptual samadhi, one abides without stain like the sky.' Also, as it is said in the Commentary on the Bodhicitta: 'The mind that is free from objects, abides in the nature of the sky, to meditate on the sky, is to meditate on emptiness.' Also, as it is said in the Praise of the Dharmadhatu: 'For all Dharmas that are dominated by mind, having abandoned conceptualization and examination, all Dharmas are without self-nature, one should meditate in the Dharmadhatu.' Also, as it is said in the Bodhicharyavatara: 'When real and unreal things, do not stand before the mind, then there is no other aspect, and one is completely pacified without an object.' Also, as Lord Atisha said: 'In the Dharmadhatu that is free from elaboration, consciousness also abides in freedom from elaboration.' The treatises of the great siddhas, as quoted before, are known, so I will not (525) elaborate. However, here, what a beginner should know is that not meditating is the side of shamatha and relaxation, and if it is too much, it will cause sinking; not being distracted is the side of vipashyana and gathering, and if it is too much, it will cause excitement. Therefore, the way to eliminate sinking and excitement, and how to cultivate shamatha and vipashyana equally, should be understood as explained in the general explanation of shamatha and vipashyana. Here, too, it is considered that one should cultivate equanimity with a moderate degree of tension and relaxation, like the example of a Brahmin spinning thread. As Lord Gampopa said: 'Do not fabricate, relax and abide! Do not watch, let it be! Do not think, abide without an object!' and so on, he said a lot. As Lord Phagmo Drupa said: 'The meditation on the innate Dharmakaya, is like a Brahmin spinning thread.'

. The original state without modification, naturally abide. Abiding sometimes upwards, letting go sometimes scattered. If the stain of sin arises, practice the co-emergent union. Thus it is said. To this, some say, like a Brahmin spinning thread, the original state without modification, naturally abide. This is called Mahamudra. If one examines this meaning, one will see it like this. If kept in its original state, it is wool itself. If made into thread, it will become modified. Therefore, this metaphor has a flaw. Those who say this are mistaken themselves, because they do not understand that spinning thread is a metaphor for moderate tightness and looseness, and it seems that they do not understand the meaning of the original state, and it seems that they do not understand that merely maintaining that one aspect is not considered Mahamudra. Furthermore, regarding how to maintain Samadhi, Je Gotsangpa said: Stare directly at your own mind, and by looking, you will not see any object. In the state of non-existence, relax and abide. Be absent-minded and let go, without any clinging. This means that by staring directly at your mind with your mind, you do not see the nature of the mind, and you experience that there is no object. In this state, awareness naturally relaxes and abides, and moreover, without falling into a state of non-indication, maintain awareness absent-mindedly, without any aim of practice, without any constraint, and without any clinging to right and wrong. He thinks this is very good and very essential. Fourth, the methods of practice in the post-meditation state include four aspects: the determination of mindfulness in the post-meditation state, how to cultivate meditation with it, the order of transforming conceptual thoughts into the path, and how the post-meditation state appears like an illusion. First, after thus abiding single-pointedly on the nature of co-emergent mind in the main practice of the session, what should be done during the breaks between sessions? Here, one must first make effort to generate and learn continuous mindfulness and awareness, as Je Drikungpa said: Skillful in mindfulness, skillful in meditation. Children, take everything into account with mindfulness. Thus it is said. Moreover, the object of mindfulness at this time is mainly the experience and definite understanding of the co-emergent mind that was previously introduced. However, a slightly different characteristic is that in the power of mindfulness of such virtuous practice, or in the moment of not losing the root mindfulness, immediately at the same time as the appearance of external conditions of conceptual thoughts or the appearance of forms, sounds, etc., the truth of right and wrong
