Of the four ways to cut off and bring forth, the first is the reason why one must cultivate after meditation arises. In general, how to cultivate with mindfulness, awareness, and vigilance. In particular, the three aspects of showing the importance of mindfulness. The first aspect is that after meditation arises, engaging in ordinary states or inferior actions (478) is said to be like becoming a lowly person, diminishing qualities, and being bound to samsara again. As the great Brahmin said: Alas! If one realizes the nature of reality and then does inferior things, It is like a king falling from his throne and sweeping the floor. Having abandoned the great bliss that never diminishes, One is bound by merely touching the bliss of samsara. As Je Gya Re said: Meditation arises but has no owner, It is like a rich man being carried away by the wind. A lion falls into a pack of dogs, A precious jewel sinks into the mud. Like that. Moreover, after obtaining the view of non-elaboration, making efforts primarily in physical and verbal virtuous practices and other object-oriented practices is also said to be a reversal of meaning, like finding a jewel and then looking for a rope. As the great Brahmin said: Alas! Having seen one's own mind free from all elaborations, The yogi who deliberately engages in elaborations, Is like finding a precious jewel and then looking for a rope, (479) Even if he makes effort, it will never be meaningful. As Tilopa said: With the dharma of mind, one does not see the meaning beyond mind, With the dharma of action, one does not realize the meaning of non-action. As Jowo Je said: If the mind is stable in single-pointed samadhi, One should not primarily engage in physical and verbal virtue. As Jetsun said: When the mind free from elaboration arises, Do not follow after words and terms, There is a danger of falling into the net of the eight worldly concerns. As when meditating on Mahamudra, Do not strive for physical and verbal virtuous actions, There is a danger of losing non-conceptual wisdom, Rest in the natural state of non-fabrication. And so on. Furthermore, just as fire arises from rubbing wood, if the liberating part of the mind has not merged into space, if there are many object-oriented practices, the objectless will not arise, so it is slightly not good. As the teacher Hero said: If one repeatedly lets the wood rest, Rubbing will not produce fire, The way of yoga is also the same, If one has not obtained the special, do not give up. Like that. Thus, for the meaning of long-term meditation, repeatedly thinking and meditating is praised. In the Ornament of Clear Realization it says:
