Relying solely on these. Nowadays, some people think that the so-called "ordinary awareness" is merely non-conceptual, and it seems that they say so. However, I have not seen even a little (468) of the meaning of ordinary awareness as spoken by Je Dakpo Kuön. Although they believe that the conceptualization of grasping and clinging obscures the state of mind with its own characteristics, if one merely distinguishes between conceptual and non-conceptual in a general way, it is not suitable as the meaning of ordinary awareness and non-contrivance. As Je Gampopa said to the scholar Gomchung: In short, regarding existence and non-existence, emptiness and non-emptiness, conceptualization and non-conceptualization, good and bad, good and not good, etc., without doing any affirmation or negation or any fabrication, but rather abiding as it arises, this very ordinary awareness is non-contrived. Furthermore, Je Gampopa said: Among the three, ordinary awareness, non-contrivance, and primordial, ordinary awareness is the initial awareness that has not been altered by the views of other schools. Non-contrivance is to leave it as it is, without fabrication. As he said. Then, what is the meaning (469) of what Yang Gönpa said? The "naked" in the so-called "naked ordinary awareness" refers to its essence or nature. It is free from conceptualizations with sound and meaning, and because it is not mistaken, it is similar to non-conceptual wisdom. In general, the so-called "non-conceptual wisdom of the universal dharma" is that if one recognizes one's own nature, it abides on each and every object of dharma. Whatever arises as conceptualization or appearance, if one recognizes its nature, it is wisdom itself and nothing else. Yang Gönpa himself also said: In short, this original ordinary awareness that has not been fabricated by anyone, when it recognizes itself, that is called the arising of Mahamudra meditation. Therefore, it is essential to thoroughly understand the state of mind itself, conceptualization, and appearance, as previously explained. Without that, it is like a blind person with open eyes examining the shape of an object. (470) Here, one will neither touch nor understand the meaning of ordinary awareness and the non-contrived mind, nor will one find definite knowledge. If one understands in that way, then it is the state of mind that is not fabricated or defiled by the mind of affirmation and negation.

Whatever the way or state of being, it is considered ordinary consciousness. By generating deep conviction that this itself is the Dharmakaya, it will be manifested through proper practice. If it is not like that, the way ordinary consciousness abides is described as a state difficult to understand. As Lord Yang-gön-pa said, "There are many lamas who distinguish between experience and samadhi and introduce their practice, but lamas who know how to introduce the practice of ordinary consciousness are rarer than stars in the daytime." Like that. If such ordinary consciousness is recognized, terms such as "seeing the nature of mind" are applied. The way of seeing also becomes habitual, and eventually, regardless of whether non-conceptuality arises or not, (471) it does not depend on it. Even the unrestricted "black man's" consciousness, which is accompanied by conceptual thoughts, will recognize itself and be liberated without losing its essence or diminishing its part. As Lord Gampopa said, "Whatever appears, the consciousness does not lose its essence, does not diminish its part, but acts fully, that is seeing the face and hands of the Buddha directly." Also, Lord Gomchung said, "The first consciousness is one, the ordinary consciousness is two, the consciousness with an object is three. Whoever recognizes these three, with their own mind, directly recognizes and sees wisdom. The unmodified, natural state of mind, is truly seeing its essence. This itself, accompanied by conceptual thoughts, is clearly seeing the light. In short, it is that black man's consciousness without any religious concepts." And so on. Lord Gyara said, "This consciousness of ordinary people, abides in the Dharmakaya, even if the lama does not point it out, one (472) can naturally realize it oneself." And so on, there are many teachings of the Kagyu lineage, but they will be understood in future explanations, so I will not elaborate further. Third, in this way, the ordinary consciousness itself recognizes itself, and in the self-aware mindfulness, without being distracted from the meaning, immediately the natural state of mind, whatever exists, whatever appears, is maintained without alteration, this is called meditation. As Lord Gampopa said, "Now I know that this undistracted ordinary consciousness is meditation." Like that. Therefore, from maintaining the natural state of mind with the mindfulness that recognizes it, further
