Even if such a thing arises, various kinds of thoughts initially arise clearly and abundantly. Because the reality of these thoughts is not incorporated into practice, it is difficult to cultivate meditation, and there is a high risk of turning meditation into a tedious thing. Therefore, it is necessary to recognize the co-emergent state of non-thought, thoughts, and thoughts of object appearance, and to eliminate doubts. (463) Especially when introducing, if only non-thought is introduced, then most people will mistakenly think that such a paradigm is needed in any case, which becomes very narrow, which is not good. It is important to recognize the thoughts and the thoughts of appearance. Third, regarding the way the reality of the mind is called ordinary awareness, identifying the particularity of ordinary awareness itself, and showing that not being distracted from it is the meditation of Mahamudra, these three. First, regarding the word "ordinary awareness," unwise people may think that it is a chaotic, willful, and self-righteous awareness. But this is not the case. The word "ordinary," Sanskrit (梵文天城体:प्राकृत,romanization: prākṛta,literal meaning: natural), can refer to both "nature" and "ordinary," so it means "awareness of nature." This refers to the naturally luminous, unmodified and unpolluted awareness, being in a natural state, (464) the meaning of existing in its own way. Giving the name "ordinary awareness" to such a mind is not only said by the Dagpo Kagyu. In fact, the Naropa Root Tantra says, "The nature of ordinary awareness is the supreme of the fruit. Remaining unmodified, one can obtain the fruit of the three bodies. Letting it be, it is ultimate wisdom. The nature of mind, unmodified, is the nature of all vajras. The meaning of abiding in the true state cannot be spoken. This is the mother of all Buddhas of the three times." And, glorious Shavaripa said, "Ordinary awareness, in its natural, original state, is not polluted by false objects. For the naturally pure mind, no modification is needed. Do not grasp or abandon, abide in the natural state." And, the great accomplished Toktsepa said, "Ordinary awareness awakens in the center of the heart. If the six consciousnesses are purified, then bliss will not be interrupted. All examinations (465) are the source of meaningless suffering. Abide in the original state of no meditation." And, Jetsun Rinpoche said, "Cultivate ordinary awareness, cultivate."

From, ignorance and confusion are forgotten and disappear. So it is said. Lord Gampopa said: This practice, which is sufficient with ordinary consciousness, is obtained through the kindness of the Buddha without a body. So on and so forth, many things were said. Second, although many topics of ordinary consciousness are raised, it seems that few people can clearly recognize it, so it needs to be explained. That is, at Lord Gampopa's Great Dharma Gathering, he said: Now, if you want to be liberated from samsara, you must recognize ordinary consciousness because it is the root of all Dharmas. The so-called ordinary consciousness is that one's own consciousness is not defiled by any aspect of Dharma, not disturbed by any aspect of the world, and not obscured by dullness and torpor or any conceptual thoughts (466), but is kept in its original state. If you recognize it, it is your own awareness wisdom. If you do not recognize it, it is co-emergent ignorance. If you recognize it, it is called awareness, called essence, called co-emergent wisdom, called ordinary consciousness, called primordial, called free from elaboration, called luminosity. So on and so forth, the nature of ordinary consciousness is recognized, the categories of names, and the way in which recognizing it is more excellent than most qualities are explained in detail. Among them, the so-called not being defiled by any aspect of Dharma means that the mind is not defiled by the clinging of the mind examined by sectarian views and the experience of bliss-clarity-non-thought, etc. The so-called not being disturbed by any aspect of the world means that the mind is not disturbed by afflictions such as attachment and aversion, and thoughts such as doing this and doing that immediately. The so-called not being obscured by dullness and torpor or any conceptual thoughts (467) means that the mind is not confused by dullness and torpor, or distracted by the self-characteristics of agitated conceptual thoughts, thereby obscuring the state or abiding of the mind. The so-called keeping the original state means that whatever the nature or essence or abiding of the mind itself is, it should be kept as it is, without defiling it with the effort of negation and affirmation, but letting it remain in its own abiding state. At this time, Lord Yang Gonpa said: If you do non-conceptual wisdom, it is Dharma terminology. If you do naked ordinary consciousness, it is the foolish words of a beggar. The meaning is the same. In addition, the teachings of various Kagyu lineage masters
