It is called the place of merit." Thus it is said. Similarly, it is also clearly stated in the Sutra Requested by the King of Dharani Empowerment. Also, in the Sutra of the Essence of the Thus-Gone One, it says: "Therefore, the essence of the Thus-Gone One is empty of all the sheaths of defilements that are distinguishable and separable. It is not empty of the inconceivable Buddha-dharma that is indistinguishable and inseparable, which exceeds the sands of the Ganges River." Thus it is said. Also, in the same text, it says: "Bhagavan, what is the essence of the Thus-Gone One? This is the essence of the Dharma that transcends the world, the essence of the Dharma that is completely pure by nature." (101) And, in the Garland of Jewels Sutra, it also says: "Bhagavan, the essence of the Thus-Gone One is permanent, stable, and eternal." Thus it is said. Furthermore, the beings who view it are also said to have the right view. In the same text, it says: "Bhagavan, those beings who, with faith in the Thus-Gone One, perceive it as permanent, perceive it as happiness, perceive it as self, and perceive it as pure, Bhagavan, are not inverted. Bhagavan, those have become those who have the right view." Also, in the Great Nirvana Sutra, it says: "Son of lineage, that which has permanence, has happiness, has self, and has completeness is called the meaning of the true truth." Also, in the Great Drum Sutra, it says: "Having abandoned such sutras as the Sutra of the Essence of the Thus-Gone One, the Buddha's Permanence, they study the sutras of the chapter on emptiness. Some of them quote words and letters, and some of them abandon words and letters to each other. Why is that? Because all the Buddha's words (102) teach emptiness and selflessness. Foolish people who do not understand the meaning of emptiness and selflessness will decline." Also, in the Finger Garland Sutra, it says: "Those who slander and mock the essence of the Thus-Gone One are not other monks, but are certainly weaklings from whose mouths flames arise. Those in the past also considered the Thus-Gone One's body, which is permanent, to be impermanent.

If one thinks of the (Tathagata's) body as leprosy, then those beings who are weak and have leprosy now are definitely slandering the eternal body of the Tathagata. In the future, if there are beings who think of the Tathagata's eternal body as leprosy, those are none other than the Sangha of monks, they are slandering the eternal body of the Tathagata. If one previously thought of the Tathagata's peaceful body as not peaceful, one would become a great elephant. Those large and weak (elephants) now are definitely thinking of the Tathagata's peaceful body as not peaceful. In the future, if there are beings who think of the Tathagata's peaceful body as not peaceful, those are none other than the Sangha of monks. Those elephants are definitely denouncing the peaceful body of the Tathagata. (103) If one becomes degenerate at the time of mutual gatherings, those many beings with many diseases are because they think of the Yungdrung body of the Tathagata as not Yungdrung. Those beings who become degenerate at the time of mutual gatherings now are thinking of the Yungdrung body of the Tathagata as not Yungdrung. In the future, if there are beings who become degenerate at the time of mutual gatherings, those beings are thinking of the Yungdrung body of the Tathagata as not Yungdrung. Sangha of monks, those are definitely none other than denouncing the non-manifestation of the Tathagata's body. Those beings who previously thought that the Tathagata's body was not firm will be born in the noble womb of the king's consort, and die immediately after birth, becoming impermanent. Those beings who are born in the noble womb of the king's consort and die now are definitely slandering the firm and luminous body of the Tathagata. In the future (104), those beings who are impermanent and short-lived are slandering the firm body of the Tathagata. Sangha of monks, those are none other than definitely slandering the firm body of the Tathagata. Thus it is said. In the Great Drum Sutra, it is also said: Alas, young man, all in the world are happy to see, how does the wise King of Light make benefit to beings...
