Secondly, it is the Supreme Joy. Thirdly, it is the Joy of Separation. Fourthly, it is said to be Co-emergent. Thus it is said. In the Kalachakra, it is said that the third joy is the Special Joy, so it seems that the nature of these two is not the same. The distinction of the four joys is stated in the Vimalaprabha: The sixteen suchnesses are the Nirmanakaya and the Nirmanakaya speech, the Nirmanakaya mind and the Nirmanakaya wisdom; the Sambhogakaya and the Sambhogakaya speech, the Sambhogakaya mind and the Sambhogakaya wisdom; the Dharmakaya and the Dharmakaya speech (586), the Dharmakaya mind and the Dharmakaya wisdom; the Co-emergent Kaya and the Co-emergent speech, the Co-emergent mind and the Co-emergent wisdom. With the distinction of Joy, Supreme Joy, Special Joy, and Co-emergent Joy, these sixteen suchnesses are with obscurations for those born from the womb, because the sixteen each discard half of the bindu. The Buddhas are without obscurations, because the sixteen each hold half of the bindu. Thus it is said. The fault of leakage has been explained before in the section on bindu. The method of binding is, in the King of Tantras, it is said: The enemy of mercury is fire, and if separated from fire, mercury will never be bound. Without binding, gold cannot be made, and separated from gold, the alchemist has no enjoyment. Similarly, reducing union with women, the mind of the yogi will never be bound. Without binding, the body cannot be pierced, but here, from the holes of the body, it gives supreme bliss. Thus it is said. Here also there are subduing, holding, averting, and scattering (587). Among them, subduing is as Shantipa said, like the example of striking a mallet, and as said after accomplishing fierce mantras, subduing like the gait of a frog. Having arrived in this way, holding is: shrinking the four continents and the subcontinents, combining with the sea mist, throwing the sun and moon upwards, combining the red lightning with the sky, combining the wind with darkness, and then fixing the mind on the lunar mandala of the wheel of great bliss. Averting is, extracting essence and extracting internally should be done in a state inseparable from wisdom, and if separated, like a turtle.

Gathering in. Tigress vomiting. Lion playing. Elephant's swaying and four plays, strive until it cannot be supported. What should be done universally is: Peacock flying and vulture playing. Lion liberating four-clawed game. Like this, adorned with instructions, then placed in the state of Mahamudra. The benefits and purification of such binding, as well as the arising order of cause and the reversing order of fruit, etc., all are extensively taught by the Victorious Ones in all the unsurpassed tantras (588), as has already been explained in the chapter on bindus. Because the inner samaya mudra should be made workable, one should strive to bind the karma mudra. As it is said in the King of Tantras: For the sake of increasing the joy of the innate bliss of the Victorious Ones, one should first rely on the karma mudra. From this, the bliss with the form of the sun fills the body, the soles of the feet, the crown of the head, and all the limbs. It generates unwavering bliss like a lightning bolt, and the limbs are perfectly adorned with marks. The body of the Bhagavan of the three times appears as Vajra Illuminating, and then transforms into the Dharmadhatu. These four mudras give the fruit of immutable bliss, which should be meditated upon by yogis. Because this path of stages as spoken must be learned from the mouth of a qualified master who is skilled in instructions, this profound inner meaning is not written extensively here. Fifth, the ordinary state is extensively explained, divided into: explaining the essence, explaining purification, and explaining abandonment, remedies, and results. First, (589) the consciousness of the ordinary time is: Alaya, afflicted mind, and action. By applying the four conditions previously explained, the six consciousnesses, such as the eye, are connected with the six faculties, and appear as the six objects, such as form. It generates the three feelings of pleasure, pain, and equanimity. It generates attachment, hatred, and ignorance. It is carried away by the immediately preceding mind. Placed on the Alaya, it acts again. Thus it is said, that is, where does the consciousness of an ordinary person arise from when awake? It is because the afflicted mind on the Alaya manifests and acts, and by this shaking cause, the previously explained causal condition, dominant condition, objective condition, and immediately preceding condition.
