Those with a hundred tongues, speaking extensively on scriptures and treatises, even if wise, cannot truly expound this treatise. Even so, beings like us can illuminate the smiling face of this lotus of good speech with the rays of wisdom, allowing the fortunate swarms of bees to enjoy it. This is an intermediate verse. Second, to pay homage to the great bliss body with form. The lord of co-emergent one reality and two, possessing the three bodies, channels, winds, and bindus, the four states are the four bodies, I pay homage to the lord of the five bodies. (52) Thus it is said. This verse indicates that, as previously stated, the wisdom body of co-emergent bliss and emptiness, which knows and sees all phenomena of relative and ultimate truth, is the sole reality pervading all places, and is the basis for the distinctions of all lineages and bodies. Here, through the distinction of skillful means and wisdom, the utterly pure realm of phenomena is the ultimate truth body; its corresponding cause is the relative truth body, becoming the nature of two bodies. From this, it can also transform into three bodies, namely, the aforementioned ultimate truth Dharmakaya, which is the pure nature of the Alaya consciousness. Its corresponding cause, the extremely profound body, in which the afflicted mind, life force, winds, dreams, etc., are transformed into abiding, is the Sambhogakaya. The purification of the six consciousnesses that engage in various appearances when awake is the Nirmanakaya. Divided into two, it becomes the three bodies. This is also the purification of the impurities of the channels, winds, and bindus, becoming pure, which is the Vajra of body, speech, and mind of all Buddhas. From this (53), it can also transform into four bodies, namely, deep sleep, dreams, waking, and the fourth state, these four states are all pure, which are the four bodies. This is also the division of the ultimate truth body into the Dharmakaya and the co-emergent body, thus establishing it as four. From this, it can also transform into five bodies, namely, the purification of the five aggregates manifesting the five wisdoms. That is, the nature of the five Buddha families, such as Vairochana, manifests, so I respectfully prostrate and pay homage. Thus, from the distinction of the sole great bliss body, there are two bodies, three bodies, four bodies, and five bodies, etc.
