Returning and abiding firmly beneath the wheel of the secret place, the so-called "place" is the attainment of the first ground, the Extremely Joyful Ground. "Place" means foundation. In beginningless samsara, due to seeing the thusness never seen before, the joy of this ground is very great, hence it is called the Extremely Joyful Ground. It is also the foundation of samadhi and supernormal knowledge, and it is also called "place" because the perfection of generosity satisfies immeasurable beings. Here, generosity is abandoning children, wives, wealth, and even one's own body, and abandoning all conceptual elaborations. Thereafter, in the second time cycle, due to blocking the wind, the aggregate of formation ceases, and the bindu abides firmly on the wheel of the secret place, hence one attains the Near Place, also called the second Immaculate Ground. Here, because it is near the first ground, it is called the Near Place. Because the perfection of discipline is extremely strong and the ten virtuous actions are purified, it is called Immaculate. Because it is the foundation of samadhi and supernormal knowledge, it is called the Near Place. Here, discipline means that even with the union of karmamudra, the bindu does not move. Thereafter, in the third time cycle, due to the cessation of the wind, the aggregate of consciousness ceases, and the bindu abides firmly beneath the navel wheel, hence one attains the Field, also called the (400) third Illuminating Ground. Here, because it can generate, it is called Field, that is, because the perfection of patience is extremely strong, it generates unwavering samadhi, displaying the great light of the Dharma, hence it is called Illuminating. Also, because this ground can generate excellent samadhi and supernormal knowledge, it is called Field. Here, patience means not letting one's mind follow enemies and so on. Thereafter, in the fourth time cycle, due to the cessation of the wind, name and form cease, and the bindu abides firmly on the navel wheel, hence one attains the Near Field, also called the fourth Ground of Radiance. Because the perfection of diligence is increased, it generates unwavering samadhi, displaying the great light of the Dharma more excellently than before, hence it is called Radiance. Also, because this ground generates supernormal knowledge and so on more excellently than before, it is called the Near Field. Here, diligence is the two paths of

The course of life is destroyed. Then, when the energy of the fifth time-union ceases, the six sense sources cease, and the bindu becomes stable below the heart wheel, one attains what is called "Desire-Thought" or the fifth difficult-to-practice ground. Desire is to seek the complete benefit of oneself and others. Thought is to think that all the benefits of oneself and others will be done by me, therefore it is called Desire-Thought. That is the meaning of the word Candoha. Here, because the perfection of meditation is more excellent, by means of various combinations of methods for accomplishing the manifestation of great miraculous powers, sentient beings are completely matured. That is how sentient beings are matured, and manifest taming, having the cause of a mind that follows the Buddha, non-retreating, diligently applying oneself to the roots of virtue, is difficult to tame because of manifest diligence in seeking excellent Dharma. Here, meditation is the mind that abides in the joy of co-emergence. Then, when the energy of the sixth time-union ceases, touch ceases, and the bindu becomes stable above the heart wheel, one attains what is called "Near Desire-Thought" or the sixth ground of manifestation. Here, because the perfection of wisdom manifests its tendency, like Desire-Thought, for seeking particularly excellent Dharma, it is called Near Desire-Thought and manifestation because of complete diligence. Here, wisdom is universal movement, it is the language of all sentient beings. Then, when the energy of the seventh time-union ceases, feeling ceases, and the bindu becomes stable below the throat wheel, one attains what is called "Gathering" or the seventh ground of far-reaching. Here, because the perfection of skillful means is more excellent, the nature of love, compassion, joy, and equanimity, with immeasurable, meditation, liberation, samadhi, equipoise, and supernormal cognition, etc., are gathered by striving without signs, therefore it is called Gathering and far-reaching. Here, skillful means is to benefit sentient beings by the perfection of wisdom itself. Then, when the energy of the eighth time-union ceases, craving ceases, the throat wheel's
