Manjushri, if beings make offerings and respect to the preacher of the Dharma, rise in the morning to visit, give food, and touch with their hands, then all these beings will be completely liberated from the sufferings of hell, the animal realm, and the realm of Yama. Manjushri, wherever the preacher of the Dharma resides, or where his tomb, corpse, or remains are, even seeing his corpse will purify the five inexpiable sins. Manjushri, in the great ocean, there are pretas (hungry ghosts) whose bellies are as large as eight thousand yojanas (a unit of distance), and these pretas experience the unending suffering of their karma. Manjushri, similarly, those who abandon this precious sutra will also experience suffering. Manjushri, if someone makes offerings to this precious sutra with flowers, incense, lamps, perfumes, garlands, unguents, powders, Dharma robes, umbrellas, banners, and divine banners, and also makes offerings to the preacher of the Dharma, even if the preacher of the Dharma commits the five inexpiable sins, do not disturb his mind. If young animals, such as beasts and birds belonging to the animal realm, eat the flesh of the preacher of the Dharma who has died and remains in the tomb, they will all attain irreversibility and attain unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment. All other beasts and birds will attain this dense Buddha-field, and do not hesitate or doubt. Any beings who have planted roots of virtue in the past, who have been embraced by Bodhisattvas in the past, and who have not lost the seed of Bodhisattvas from the past, all these beings will hear this great sutra in the future. After hearing it, they will make offerings with great offerings. And so on. Also, in the 'Samadhi of the Miraculous Display of Perfect Tranquility,' it says: 'The Tathagata is in samadhi, stopping all feelings, separated from feelings, having attained the supreme state of all feelings.' The Dharmadhatu is the Buddha, the Buddha is the true limit, without dust, peaceful, cool, unborn, unceasing.' It also says: 'Not seeing all dharmas is seeing the Tathagata.' --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

And, whoever does not see the self-nature of all dharmas, that is seeing the Tathagata. Whoever does not see any dharma, that is seeing the Tathagata. And so on. Manjushri, if a son or daughter of good family, for countless kalpas, in each of the ten directions' worlds, gives as alms whatever beings desire with the four requisites raining down, it is still less than if another son or daughter of good family, for the sake of conforming to the Dharma, speaks these words: 'The Tathagata is eternal, the Tathagata is steadfast.' The merit generated by this is immeasurably greater than that. Also, in the Vimalakirti Sutra, it says: 'Newly trained Bodhisattvas have two faults that harm them, causing them not to develop firm faith in the profound Dharma. What are the two? First, when they hear profound sutras they have not heard before, they become frightened and doubtful, and do not rejoice or approve. Even if someone teaches them these sutras, they deny them, saying, 'We have never heard of such a Dharma before; where did it come from?' Second, sons of good family, they do not rely on, associate with, attend to, honor, or respect those who uphold the profound sutras, who are vessels of the profound Dharma, and who teach the profound Dharma; and from time to time, they even speak unpleasant words to them.' And so on. Similarly, in the Cloud of Jewels Sutra, it says: 'Son of good family, whatever accords with the nature of Dharma is reason. Whatever does not contradict the nature of Dharma is reason. Whatever is not confused about the nature of Dharma is reason. Whatever flows into the nature of Dharma is reason. Whatever teaches the nature of Dharma is reason.' And, 'Son of good family, for example, the term 'Thusness' is a supreme expression of true meaning.' The questioner asked: 'Bhagavan, what is meant by 'True'?' The Bhagavan replied: 'Son of good family, whatever is not deceptive is True.' The questioner asked: 'Bhagavan, what is meant by 'not deceptive'?' The Bhagavan replied: 'That is Suchness, the Suchness that is not mistaken, the Suchness that is not other.' The questioner asked: 'Bhagavan, what is meant by 'Suchness'?' The Bhagavan replied: 'Son of good family, this Dharma is self-realized wisdom, and cannot be instructed by letters.' 'Why is that? Because this Dharma has completely transcended all letters and has completely transcended all speech.' --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
