In the 'Tathāgatagarbha Sūtra' it is also said that faults such as arising and ceasing do not exist inherently, and that the Buddha-dhātu (the realm of the Buddha), or the Buddha of the Buddha-dhātu, which has many qualities such as the endless characteristics of Dharma-nature, exists in sentient beings. As it is said in the sutra: 'Even if all the Buddhas diligently search, they cannot find the arising of the Tathāgatagarbha; because all sentient beings have the unarisen Buddha-dhātu, which is adorned with endless excellent marks and signs, it is the indestructible Buddha-dhātu, the Buddha-dhātu that is endowed with endless excellent marks and signs. Even if all the Buddhas diligently search, they cannot find the defiled Tathāgatagarbha; because all sentient beings have the undefiled Buddha-dhātu, which is adorned with endless excellent marks and signs. Even if all the Buddhas diligently search, they cannot find the impermanent Tathāgatagarbha; because all sentient beings have the permanent Buddha-dhātu, which is adorned with endless excellent marks and signs. Even if all the Buddhas diligently search, they cannot find the unreal Tathāgatagarbha; because all sentient beings have the real Buddha-dhātu, which is adorned with endless excellent marks and signs. Even if all the Buddhas diligently search, they cannot find the unstable Tathāgatagarbha; because all sentient beings have the stable Buddha-dhātu, which is adorned with endless excellent marks and signs. Even if all the Buddhas diligently search, they cannot find the diseased Tathāgatagarbha; because all sentient beings have the disease-free Buddha-dhātu, which is adorned with endless excellent marks and signs. Even if all the Buddhas diligently search, they cannot find the aging and dying Tathāgatagarbha; because all sentient beings have the aging and death-free Buddha-dhātu, which is adorned with endless excellent marks and signs. Even if all the Buddhas diligently search, they cannot find the destructible Tathāgatagarbha; because all sentient beings have the indestructible Buddha-dhātu, which is adorned with endless excellent marks and signs.' --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

There exists the essence of the Tathāgatagarbha (如来藏,Tathāgatagarbha, tathāgatagarbha, Womb of the Thus-Gone). All Buddhas (佛,Buddha, buddha, Awakened One) diligently seek, but do not find the essence of the Thus-Gone that can be destroyed. There exists an indestructible essence, the essence of the Buddha, the essence possessed by all sentient beings, adorned with limitless excellent marks and signs. All Buddhas diligently seek, but do not find defilement in the essence of the Thus-Gone. All sentient beings possess a stainless essence, the essence of the Buddha, the essence adorned with limitless excellent marks and signs.} For example, just as water and oil mixed together cannot be distinguished, similarly, although the essence of the Buddha is covered by countless afflictions (烦恼,kleśa, kleśa, defilements), there is no state where afflictions and the essence of the Buddha are mixed together. Although the essence resides within countless afflictions, just as a lamp resides within a vase, when the vase is broken, the lamp burns brightly and beautifully. Revealing the essence of the Thus-Gone is the Fully Awakened Buddha. And so on. Also in the *Ghanavyūha Sūtra* (宝积经,Ghanavyūha Sūtra, ghanavyūha sūtra, Array of Jewels Sutra): 'The Thus-Gone is permanent, stable, true, and indestructible, the object of those yogis who cultivate mindfulness of the Buddha. What is proclaimed as the essence of the Thus-Gone is the realm of nirvāṇa (涅槃,nirvāṇa, nirvāṇa, cessation), indestructible like space. The sound of nirvāṇa, with the words of the *dharmadhātu* (法界,dharmadhātu, dharmadhātu, realm of phenomena), is taught by the past, present, and future Buddhas, the Blessed Ones. Whether the Thus-Gones appear or not, the *dharmatā* (法性,dharmatā, dharmatā, suchness of phenomena) of all phenomena, the *dharmasthitatā* (法住性,dharmasthitatā, dharmasthitatā, abiding nature of phenomena), the *dharmadhātu*, and the faultless nature of the Dharma (法,Dharma, dharma, teachings), this is the Thus-Gone.' What is called the indestructible *vajragarbha* (金刚藏,vajragarbha, vajragarbha, diamond essence) is free from all faults of arising. The indestructible *vajragarbha* is not only free from all faults, but also enters into *samādhi* (禅定,samādhi, samādhi, meditative concentration). As it says: 'The wise individually realize, truth and the ultimate truth, a realm beyond the reach of words, the reality of the Buddha is invisible. The sound of the Buddha is nirvāṇa, nirvāṇa is the Buddha. Because it is free from conceptualization and thoughts, it cannot be indicated. There is no cause and effect, it is separate from existence and non-existence. When a stone is ground into powder, gold does not appear, but through the action of purification, gold becomes visible. The wise analyze forms into particles, and so too with the aggregates, elements, and sources.' --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
