All phenomena arise naturally from the Dharmadhatu, and are called the basis treasure. As stated in the Root Lineage of Precious Treasures: All that is known inside and out, is extracted from the Dharmadhatu as treasure. Deities, mantras, activities, rituals, etc., all, all arise from that. Thus it is said. Also, the treasure of Dharma is explained, and the way in which it descends upon capable Bodhisattvas is also as stated in the King of Samadhi Sutra: A great Bodhisattva dwelling in a solitary place, will find the treasure of the Buddha, will find the treasure of the Dharma, and so on. Furthermore, there are eighteen kinds of treasures, and a number of billions and eighteen, etc. If classified, there are eighteen kinds of treasure activities. Thus it is said. The definition is: that which has the nature of producing whatever is desired. The example is: like a wish-fulfilling jewel, and those definitions and examples are also as stated in the Tang Annals: The definition and example are the treasure of the wish-fulfilling jewel. The purpose is: to be complete in each circumstance, and to summarize briefly, as stated in the Sutra of the Play of Water Currents: My teachings are the treasury of the heart, hidden from the heart in the center of the heart, or made into the essence of the earth. Why do the bald-headed Tirthikas, disturb the true meaning? Thus and so on, in general, it must be determined that in order for the teachings to remain without perishing, it is sealed༵ in the treasure. As stated in the Collection of True Dharma: In order for whose Dharma to be fully established, these categories of Dharma are written on scrolls, hidden in the treasure and offered, then ten truths of that are obtained. Thus it is said. Since the teachings of the Buddha and the happiness of sentient beings depend on the treasure, it is permitted to seal it in the treasure. As stated in the Tang Annals: Having written the letters, hide them in the treasure, the sentient beings of the degenerate age are difficult to tame, how can the treasure Dharma be abandoned? Even just writing this will cause the Buddha's teachings to increase. If separated from the iron hook of compassion, who will the sentient beings of the degenerate age rely on? Thus it is said. Secondly, regarding this hidden seal, when some people encounter a treasure, they hide it from others, and there are also seals that must be practiced by oneself. As stated in the Prophecy of the Goddess: Padma, I will become the master of the profound treasure, because it is time to practice in a hidden way. Thus and so on. Here is the Dharma.

Regarding the treasure teachings that perfectly possess the characteristics of a prosperous place, in order to prevent them from becoming thieves of the teachings, from being defiled by adulterators, from being received by those with narrow minds and without karmic connection, and from becoming a cause of sin for others, the conditions, examples, and practical essentials of the instructions are concealed. As stated in the Wrathful Deity Tantra: "There are three types of concealment: outer concealment is secrecy, inner concealment is the same, and both are indefinite." Third, the places of concealment are in water, rocks, trees, and temples, and specifically in the five directions of east, south, west, north, and center, concealing them according to the specific circumstances. As stated in the Tang Dynasty Records: "The excellent treasure place possesses five perfections: the excellence of the place lies in five common and five special qualities. The five common qualities are the depth in the earth, the depth in the water, the depth in the rocks, the depth in the temples, and the depth in the trees. The five special qualities are the depth in the central place, the depth in the eastern place, the depth in the southern place, the depth in the western place, and the depth in the northern place." Furthermore, since it is not within the realm of reasoning, the meaning is concealed and implied, and the fundamental principles of the hexagon are expanded. In order to prevent the four reliances from being reversed, the key points of concealment are revealed, and the extremely profound oral instructions are explained, indicating that this treasure teaching and all other treasure teachings have been concealed. As stated in the Ornament of Clear Realization: "Why is it profound? Because it is not within the realm of reasoning." And as stated in the Tantra of Manifest Realization of All Practices: "Likewise, my teachings, in the degenerate age, will flourish as profound teachings." Fourth, since this treasure teaching is very important, if one receives, practices, propagates, and relies on it properly, one will prosper; if one does not possess the conditions, one will decline. This is because the Dharma nature has a strict oath, and the Dharma protectors bind the oath with powerful force. As it is said: "One who reveals secrets, like plowing the tongue that speaks, will experience unbearable suffering." And as stated in the Secret Essence Tantra: "Never give it to others, if you give it out of ignorance and contempt, your life will be exhausted prematurely, and you will remain in burning and drowning for a long time." In particular, since this treasure teaching is very important, like a jewel on the head of a poisonous snake, if one is skilled in methods, one can obtain the jewel and prosper; if one is not skilled in methods, one will die from the poison.
