One should examine what the goer, the place to be gone to, and the way of going are like. Does it dissolve outwards into the object, or does it pacify inwards into the mind, or is it cut off in the middle? When thinking, it is not thought to dissolve outwards into the object, but like a wave dissolving into water, it appears to sink into the mind. Then, one must observe that the sinker and the place of sinking exist simultaneously. Or, if one sees the former changing into the latter, for example, iron changing and appearing as gold. However, if one measures the self-nature of the changing mind, one finds nothing to grasp, just like a rabbit's horn changing and becoming the son of a barren woman, which is impossible. Moreover, the changing mind cannot become the latter before the former thought has ceased. After it has ceased, the latter is not the former, because it is a destroyed non-entity. Thus, by cutting off the root, the all-pervading wisdom beyond thought, which is separate from the goer and the gone, should be recognized as the spontaneous intention of the Nirmanakaya. As it says in the Longsal: There is no goer, no place to go, no maker. Therefore, the nature of mind has no birth or death. It is also recognized in the Nirmanakaya. Like this and so on, at that time, the mind searches for the mind, which is very busy. The mind itself constantly observes that it exists, and also makes various causes of refutation and establishment. Now, when searching for oneself inwardly, one cannot find it, so for these objects that can be pointed out, and for the mind that holds on to them, there is nothing to grasp. At the moment of searching for a place to dwell, the situation of the dwelling, together with the support and the supported, cannot be observed to be firmly established, therefore it is self-empty. The three places of arising, dwelling, and going, whether they are of the nature of existence, non-existence, permanence, annihilation, one, or different, cannot be identified, therefore the memory and awareness are clear and empty without trace. Penetrating the essence of the state of liberation of mind without object is what is said in the great root tantra of body, speech, and mind: There is nothing whatsoever that is self-born essence. In the beginning, there is no place of arising for movement. In the middle, there is no place of dwelling for movement and memory. In the end, there is no place of going for movement and memory. There is no place of arising, so the bond of the base is cut. There is no object, no support, nothing whatsoever. Second, whatever thoughts, movements, etc., practice. Thus, by cutting off the root, when the mind ceases, practice arises spontaneously in the continuum. The aspects of the grasped and the grasper, all thoughts and movements of thought, are clear and empty like ice melting into water. There is no attachment or obstruction to any appearance, it is completely clear. The afflictions of one's own continuum

All bondages are liberated by force without being untied, thereby attaining liberation. Or, abiding in the reality of the mind of thoughts, constantly remaining in the state of great self-liberation. Or, a realization arises, recognizing the delusion caused by being stained by the defilements of grasping and fixation. Until this realization arises, one must cultivate the mind by meditating through alternating examination and abiding. Therefore, in the Vajra Tent Tantra, it says: "Born from the vajra of the mind, Sentient beings of various natures, The mind is stained by its own thoughts, Stained by the defilements of beings. Therefore, one should constantly strive, To purify the vajra of the mind." And it says, "By intensely stimulating the vajra of the mind, meditating on the mind itself is enlightenment." Thus, if we were to name this meditation that arises spontaneously in the continuum, it is called "self-liberation" because there is no clinging to partiality, and it is not untied for the sake of counteracting the bondage of thoughts. Therefore, the meditation of Dzogchen is to be practiced in the union of day and night. Therefore, in the Kuntuzangpo Yeshe Salwar Tönpai Gyü (The Tantra of the All-Good Illuminating Wisdom), it says, "Meditation is without grasping, self-liberation." And in the Rangjung Dewa Khorloi Gyü (The Tantra of the Self-Arisen Wheel of Bliss), it says, "If one does not regard anything as supreme, everything is liberated in its own place. With a meditation without abandoning or placing, one will surely become emptiness without meditation." The special method of abiding in this state is "ocean-like abiding." Its meaning is that the proliferation of conceptualization and judgment is cut off for all dharmas, and one abides naturally in the state of non-arising, so that appearances and existence arise as the basis. The result is that all afflictions are self-exhausted, thereby purifying into the wheel of the single dharmata, hence it is called "afflictions self-exhausted." Because one attains the realization of non-separation and non-distinction for all dharmas, it is called "yoga of abandoning dharmas." Third, explaining other meanings that arise from that. Divided into: briefly indicating the key points of liberation, explaining the key points of liberation in detail, and its necessity. The first part is: because all objects, faculties, and mental activities are realized as the great bliss of one wisdom, thereby exhausting the limits of multiplicity, therefore liberation is attained as "one liberation." And because from the beginning, the emptiness essence of wisdom has already been liberated together in non-existence, therefore there is no need to liberate again. And because the self-nature is spontaneously accomplished, self-liberated, liberated in great purity, therefore there is no need for an antidote.
