Going east with a purpose but heading west, the west cannot accomplish the east's purpose. Not knowing the way leads to confusion. Thus it is said. Once recognized, all views and actions align with reality, then that becomes the proximate cause of failure. The Tantra of Luminous Wisdom says: Upon the view that is as it is, place the mind as it is, without straying from that state, one abides in the Buddha-ground. Thus it is said. Naropa says: If the view is not mistaken in this way, meditation and action, accord with reality and attain enlightenment, like a horse race shown on level ground. If the view does not accord with reality, meditation and action will become confused, and the fruit will not be obtained as it is, like a blind person without a target. Thus it is said. Then, the method of extracting that essence is, identifying the present meaning. Second, identifying the method of sustaining the state of the intent of exhausting phenomena and transcending mind, explaining how the intent of the three times and timelessness arises, and instructing not to deviate from the state of unmeditated naturalness. The first part has three points, first, cultivating the intent of action with the method of staring at appearances: occasionally breathing... meditating. This is also a key instruction for making ungrasped awareness grasped. Generally, Dzogchenpas release the root-winds into natural purity, so breathing is not restrained, but sometimes it is. First, it is introduced on the basis of grasping the mind, and if distracted during meditation, like holding the breath, one stares intently at the target, that is, the appearance in the six realms, and when one looks intently, the inwardly self-luminous and pristine awareness arises from within, and by abiding in that state, it is purified into liberation through staring, and one abides in the great samadhi like a thunderbolt. In the Six Spaces it says: All appearances are like a thunderbolt, the swift arising of appearances does not arise in the continuum, one obtains irreversible samadhi. Thus it is said. In the Garland of Pearls it says: When the five senses are stared at intently, the five objects of grasping are self-liberated. Thus it is said. In the Letterless it says: Staring at appearances is the great method of awareness, the great appearance is not the basis of all, the five elements appear like the Buddha's path, the five great ones are clear as the appearance of the mother, without distraction, abide in the great state of non-grasping. Thus it is said. When clear awareness, the nature of reality, looks outward at objects, one sees the awareness free from variety within. Thus it is said. Second, cultivating the intent of meditation with the method of the ocean of relaxation.

That which is protected is known from "without interruption," and thus the eyes are placed freely in space without a target. Awareness itself is clear and lucid, like the ocean not moved by waves, and it is relaxed and left in its natural state, so that dullness and agitation naturally subside. Appearance and mind naturally increase, and grasping and fixation are naturally liberated. This is an introduction from the perspective of the mind's abiding. These also come from the wordless teachings. If one does not cling to the objects of appearance, like stars appearing in the ocean, without clinging to objects, the clarity is not obscured, and this is the way of abiding of self-arisen wisdom. It is said. In the Six Spaces it is said: The Samadhi of Great Expansion, for those who wish to practice it, should hold the key point of immutability, and the posture of the body should also be held. Awareness should be cast into the center of space, and the eyes should also gaze into space, like the gaze of an elephant, and placed in the Great Expansion of non-thought. Thus, awareness gazes into space, and without separation from this, the yogi constantly practices, and the appearance of daytime also increases. It is said. Understanding this, in the Wisdom Space Equality it is said: In the uncreated space, which is complete with its own measure, the mind should be strongly injected into it, like taming a bad horse. It is said. Thus, learn the two methods of abiding. First, when introducing the view, if the mind is held, then the state of focusing on one point at that time is calm abiding. The expectation that its nature, awareness, and emptiness will appear nakedly is the introduction to the Dharmakaya. When one has passed into self-purity, the state of astonishment is the experience, and on top of that, the state of clear and naked awareness is the introduction to the Dharmakaya. If it is during practice, then in those two methods, whether the clear light Dharmakaya arises or does not arise, one abides with difference or without difference. If there is a difference, ask which is bright and which is not bright. Due to the difference in the faculties of individuals, whichever introduction and protection is beneficial to oneself, one must first determine the view, and then cultivate the experience of meditation. At the end of such cultivation, one will recognize that there is no good or bad in whether the Dharmakaya is clear or unclear. Why is it that the four ways of natural abiding, for those who have the wisdom of self-appearing cutting through, those who transcend the stages and paths, and those who are not sudden, arise gradually, and the object of view
