Son, because without it, the actual wall cannot stand firm, so discernment must be made. This is the second, the method of discernment and the merits of discernment. First, there are two levels, common and specific. The first is, that is, outer... to... also exists. That is, outwardly, like mastering the intention of the three bodies of the Buddha, grasping and understanding the sound of the Great Brahma, etc., along with common accomplishments, studying the sound and meaning of the four elements. Inwardly, like guiding the wisdom of awareness, the meaning beyond expression, into the mindstream, distinguishing the discernment of the three doors, samsara and nirvana. Secretly, guiding by striving with the mind, guiding to understand the reality of the mind, practicing the three doors into the three vajras in sequence, dividing into three. Again, outwardly, distinguishing for the sake of exhausting the delusion of the body. Inwardly, like distinguishing for the sake of exhausting the cause of delusion of the body. Secretly, like arranging the interdependence for the basis of practice of the vajra body, manifesting reality, dividing into three. Similarly, the method of distinguishing discernment for the cause of delusion and delusion of speech and mind, the practice and attainment of the basis of practice. Furthermore, distinguishing through the means of vajra song and dance, etc., having complete parts, individual, mostly the order of appearance, and unimaginable differences, although there are, but it is only spoken of as grasping the foundation. These three, outer, inner, and secret, and the distinction of body, speech, and mind, are all like that. Even if separate chapters are established, if the expression that includes everything in one is explained from its own perspective, it will become repetitive. If it is explained like distinguishing, summarizing, and differentiating, then the method of distinguishing discernment will not be complete. Therefore, I will explain the method of practicing the objects of practice, the three doors of gross, subtle, and very subtle, and the three great secrets that are inseparable from the results of practice, through the method of practice, the three discernments of outer, inner, and secret, as in the subsequent chapters above. Among them, outwardly, distinguishing through the three, body, speech, and mind. Inwardly, like distinguishing. Secretly, like distinguishing. First, the method of distinguishing discernment of body, speech, and mind, and showing the order of the signs and degrees of these. The first is, going to a place where there is no traffic and feeling of people, then

May all sentient beings, equal to the expanse of space, be established in the state of perfect Buddhahood. For this purpose, I will distinguish between samsara and nirvana through the three doors, transforming the sins, sufferings, and habitual tendencies experienced by all sentient beings in the six realms into a single moment from countless eons, and purify them all at once. Having generated this mind, I will proclaim and differentiate samsara through the three doors of body, speech, and mind. Specifically, the bodily actions of beings in the six realms: exemplified by the unbearable suffering of heat and cold in the hell realms, with their constant turning and tossing, there is the mutual killing in the reviving hell, the marking and cutting in the black line hell, the pounding in the crushing hell, and the shivering from the unbearable cold in the freezing hells, with chattering teeth, and the climbing up and down in the sword-leaf forest hell, and so on. The preta realm beings, weakened and unable to support themselves while walking, with snot and vomit, and the state of being swarmed by tumors erupting from the neck, and so on. Animals bearing unbearable burdens, being sheared, birds being slaughtered, noses being pierced, being exploited, being butchered, eating each other, searching for water, and so on. The asura realm's mutual killing and fighting. The human realm's appearances of birth, aging, sickness, and death, and the actions of subduing enemies, protecting friends, doing good and evil. The gods enjoying the wish-fulfilling tree, drinking the nectar of immortality, wearing garments of the five desires, and so on, and the painful appearances of the gods after the appearance of the five signs of death. Secondly, in terms of speech: the various cries of agony from the hell realms, the five evil sounds of the preta realm, the groans of animals, and so on, each according to their known languages. The asura realm's roaring like thunder, such as "Kill! Strike!" and so on. The sounds of the gods' musical instruments, such as the calls of the kalaviṅka bird, the sound of bells, and cool, pleasant sounds. The expression of the three hundred and sixty languages known to humans. Thirdly, in terms of mind: the killing and cold heat of the eighteen hell realms, the hunger and thirst and the four inverted perceptions of the preta realm, the suffering of ignorance, exploitation, and mutual consumption of the animal realm, the killing and defeat of the asura realm, the death and fall of the gods, the eleven sufferings of humans, and so on, each being born in their respective realms, transforming into that body, and the state of speech is also like that.
