Fearing the constant thought of forgetting death, being narrow-minded, knowing that one will die no matter where one is born, and thus turning away from samsara, knowing that there is no time to do deluded things, therefore not engaging in worldly affairs, not living leisurely, but striving in the three doors (body, speech, and mind) in Dharma, not procrastinating, but conforming to Dharma right now. Knowing that the affairs and appearances of this life are meaningless, therefore casting the eight worldly concerns to the wind. If one generates Dharma that is beneficial at the time of death, and if it is certain and will not change, then that is a worthwhile life. The fifth (six contemplations) is: The necessity is... not allowed. In short, by meditating on impermanence, one remembers death at all times and in all ways, knowing that only the sacred Dharma is beneficial for it, and thus focusing one's mind on Dharma. Many unprecedented qualities arise in one's mind. Because there is no clinging to permanence, attachment and aversion to enemies, friends, wealth, and possessions naturally subside. The two accumulations (of merit and wisdom) are naturally completed. All Buddhas and Bodhisattvas agree, and one understands that worldly dharmas are meaningless, and thus one abandons attachment. First, it becomes the cause for entering practice. In the middle, it destroys the demon of laziness that considers having free time and opportunity to be sufficient. Finally, it brings the Dharma to completion and makes the fruit of the innate wisdom of immortality manifest, therefore meditating on death is also the most excellent of meditations. It is said that the Bhagavan, although he had previously attained samadhi like an ocean of tranquility and insight, but because he had not attained omniscience, he comprehended the sixteen aspects of the four truths of the path (suffering, origin, cessation, path) (impermanence, suffering, emptiness, selflessness, etc.) through meditation, and thus attained the state of nectar. Therefore, even if one wants to quickly attain Buddhahood, one should meditate on death and impermanence. It is also a special instruction of "འདའ་ཀའི་", formerly, when the nun Moonlight was about to die within seven days, the Arhat Marima made her meditate on impermanence, and as a result, she was immediately reborn as a god after death, and heard the Dharma from the Bhagavan, and thus saw the truth. If one wants to make offerings to all the Buddhas of the ten directions, one should also meditate on impermanence, as it is said in the sutra: If one meditates on impermanence extensively, one is making offerings to all the Buddhas. One is pleasing all the Buddhas. One is being prophesied by all the Buddhas. One is being blessed by all the Buddhas. Thus, one obtains the prophecy of enlightenment.

Also, those who wish to become the king of Dharma in the three realms, and those who wish the three doors to be blessed as the three vajras, should also meditate on impermanence. Furthermore, those who wish to attain accomplishment should also meditate on impermanence. For example, when the yogi Chö Yung asked a Khampa for instructions, he replied, "You will die, and I will die." By meditating in this way, repeating it three times, he attained accomplishment. Those who wish for special signs at the time of death should also meditate solely on this. For example, Yerwa's Zhangtsun only thought about passing away, and as a result, the gods accompanied him with the sound of music as he passed away, and so on. In short, the Bhagavan said, "Among all footprints, the footprint of the elephant is the most supreme. Similarly, among all concepts, the thought of impermanence is the most supreme." Therefore, whether one becomes a superior, intermediate, or inferior practitioner depends solely on whether this thought arises in one's mindstream. Before it matures, do not be impatient, but contemplate only on this. The third is: Samaya (ས་མ་ཡཱ༔, Sanskrit: समय, samaya, vow), Gya Gya Gya (རྒྱ་རྒྱ་རྒྱ, seal, seal, seal). Without this arising, one cannot enter the path of Dharma, so it is an important key, it is a vow. Moreover, it is the profound secret of body, speech, and mind, and it is the seal of command that should not be proclaimed carelessly. Secondly, the special preliminary practices are divided into three aspects: connecting with words, how to guide the actual preliminary practice, and bestowing the vow seal. The first aspect is: Now... to do. After the common preliminary practices have been explained, now the word "now" is used to connect the preceding and following texts, in order to distinguish the boundary between samsara and nirvana, and in order for the special main practice to enter the path, just like a charioteer of wood (ཤིང་།), observation (དཔྱད།). If there is no preliminary practice, the appearance and clinging of the impure three doors will not cease. Because it does not cease, the wisdom of the three kayas will not appear, just as the image will not appear if the dust on the mirror is not wiped away. Also, the preliminary practice is like a seed, so the production of the result depends on it. Also, the preliminary practice is like farming, so if it is not done, the fruit of the four kayas, like the autumn harvest, will not become readily available. The preliminary practice is like a good guide, whether the main practice enters the path without error depends on it. Also, the preliminary practice is like laying the foundation of a city.
