The earth body appears as five lights possessing characteristics, and for the benefit of beings, countless emanations radiate from the apex of light from the six places. The emanations are similar to this, therefore they are clear and pure lights. As it says: "With places, thrones, retinues, fields of taming, and inconceivable body light, they benefit beings." Fifth, the body of inner clear space and the self-manifest enjoyment body are explained as merely spontaneously accomplishing the purpose of the self-manifest beings to be tamed. The outer clear form body is the basis for the manifestation of activities. The peaceful nirvana of the half-enjoyment body and the four emanations, as well as the evil destinies of the three realms of samsara, all karma, afflictions, sins, obscurations, and sufferings are pacified, and all the qualities of existence and peace are generated and increased in the continuum. With the perfection of the four faiths and ten powers, they ripen those who are not yet ripe, and the activity of liberating beings into the expanse of samsara and nirvana is perfectly accomplished without effort or conceptualization. As it says before: "They benefit beings with the activities of pacifying, increasing, empowering, wrathful, and spontaneous accomplishment." These methods are explained in detail in the Lamp Illuminating Ornament, so look there. Furthermore, there are five perfections and various transformations, which are extremely numerous. Because of the length of the text, they are omitted here. Also, there are many different ways of establishing the fruition in each of the tantras, but they are true from their own perspective, so do not create doubts of conceptualization. Because these bodies are the realization of one Buddha, they are essentially undifferentiated, so there is no difference in how they are explained. Third, summarizing the meaning by distinguishing the basis and result as being of one essence, but differentiating them nominally: The meaning is the beings' ... distinction. So, if the result is complete in the basis, then what distinguishes a Buddha from a sentient being? The nature of self-purification is defiled by the grasping and apprehended of sentient beings, and when it appears as impure conceptual thoughts, it is called the basis continuum when accompanied by the two obscurations. When all the obscurations and their habitual tendencies are purified, and the power of the great wisdom of suchness and allness is perfectly manifested, it is called Buddha or result, and is established by name.

Therefore, the distinction lies in the fact that in the impure state, following the appearances and clinging of perception is the appearance of sentient beings as the basis. When appearances and clinging of perception are purified and no longer followed, it is distinguished as the appearance of the Sugata of fruition. As it is said in the Uttaratantra Shastra: "The Tathāgatagarbha is taught to sentient beings, because the Buddha-nature is seen in sentient beings, in the difference of the Sugata-nature, for individual ordinary beings and noble ones. Ordinary beings have perverted and wrong views, which obstruct the vision of truth. The Tathāgata is not like that, without perversion, therefore that nature is free from elaboration. Impure, impure, pure, and extremely pure, these are the four stages in order. Sentient beings, Bodhisattvas, and Tathāgatas, thus it is said in the scriptures. The meaning of self-nature, etc., is summarized into six. The element is in three states of difference, and is taught with three different names." Thirdly, the essential points of the instructions are summarized and shown: At any time during the yoga of the ground and path, there must be something without any hope or fear, and without any clinging. Even if there is a slight hope for the antidote to clinging to emptiness, or a slight fear of not having it, it is still conceptual grasping, and therefore one will fall into the trap of turning "Khregs Chod" into intellectual meditation fabricated by the mind. Even in Thod Rgal, if there is attachment to good signs in the light, or hope for its appearance, or fear of its non-appearance, it is still grasping, and therefore it will become the cause of higher realms. Therefore, there is no instruction that does not include being without hope and fear. As it is said in the Kunjed Gyalpo: "In the Dharma-nature Bodhichitta, which is beyond meditation, meditation is when there is no distraction, hope, or fear." And in the Essence of Wonderful Meaning: "In the teachings of the past Victorious One, there was a Brahmin's son named Dpal-ldan, who did not want to realize his own mind, but desired the fruit from elsewhere. Thinking in his mind and meditating on the deity, 'When will I attain the Buddhas of the five families?' He fell into samsara without fruit. Therefore, it is most important to be without hope or fear." So, is it merely equanimity, a samadhi without perception? It is not so, because the distinction has been made by whether or not one follows clinging and attachment. Therefore, its meaning is the mind's elaboration in accordance with the Suchness that is not established in any object or Dharmadhatu.
