After doing that, (the master) said that even if you vow to meditate, teach, and spread the Dharma wholeheartedly, you should give it up because it is a bad action. I asked, 'Then what should I do?' It is said that (the master) replied, 'You must abandon your life.' Therefore, the beginning of the Dharma is abandoning life. Potowa said, 'When chanting, it is difficult to make the sound "Om" at first, but once it is made, it becomes easy. Similarly, when practicing the Dharma, it is difficult to abandon life at first, but once it is abandoned once, it becomes easy afterwards.' The Buddha said, 'If you want all happiness, you must completely abandon all desires. If you completely abandon all desires, you will attain supreme happiness.' So, how should you abandon life? You must rely on the four places to entrust, the three vajras, and the women who have attained the three accomplishments, which are the ten fundamental wealths of practitioners. Just keeping these in mind can overturn the baggage of afflictions, sink the ship of bad karma, and reach the peaceful land of antidotes, effortlessly accomplishing all the benefits and happiness of this life and the next. After that, on a comfortable cushion, preferably one with internal space, because it has the master's oral instructions, you should properly straighten the key points of the body.' It means that if you arrange the dependent origination on the body, realization will arise in the mind. In the past, the Buddha Shakyamuni laid kusha grass on the cushion, and with the dependent origination of enlightenment, he resided on a cushion with internal spaces in the grass. Therefore, the Mahayana Sutra says, 'On a cushion with internal spaces.' If it matches this, it is auspicious. The key points of the body are: Generally speaking, there are seven dharmas for meditation, but here, when thinking about impermanence and suffering, being in the state of the mudra of sorrow is an auspicious dependent origination. The legs are crossed, the hands are crossed in front, or the body is in a horse-riding posture, with the right knee slightly raised, the elbows supported on the knees, and the palms supporting the cheeks, the left hand placed on the chest or waist. Having the key points of the body, etc., the so-called three days is a reminder because it has already arisen in the continuum before, just to explain the meaning. Generally speaking, you should contemplate until impermanence has not arisen in the continuum, because this is the iron anchor of the practitioner's diligence. Secondly, contemplate the impermanence of the external container world, contemplate the impermanence of the internal sentient beings, and whatever is of no benefit

Thinking and meditating on impermanence, thinking about the uncertainty of time and meditating on impermanence, the extent to which it arises in the continuum, and explaining its necessity or merit, these five (perhaps six, to be examined). The first of these is, the outer vessel of... to... impermanent. Thus, thinking about the length of time, when the outer vessel world was first formed in the kalpa, in the realm of empty space, the shape of the wind vajra cross, and above it the peaceful, clear, and pure round ocean swirling, and above it in the square great golden foundation of power with boundaries, from the pure water of rain falling from the sky, represented by the four continents, eight subcontinents, Mount Sumeru, the sun and moon, etc., the vessel world below the thirty-three heavens of the desire realm, up to and including hell, is solid and dense, forming hundreds of millions of three thousand great thousand worlds, these subtle ones are impermanent in an instant and change with time, the coarse ones are continuously impermanent, experiencing seven fires and one water seven times, and finally there is a time when even the ashes are destroyed by the wind and become one with the sky, why wouldn't my bubble-like body perish? One should think like this. As it is said in the "Letter to a Friend": The earth, Mount Sumeru, the ocean, the seven suns, burning and incinerating, even the ashes of these sentient beings will not remain, let alone the extremely weak human? No need to say more. The second is, the inner content of... to... not dying. Again, similarly, the superior, inferior, strong, and weak that exist on this earth now, all humans and animals, etc., live without having to die within a hundred years, and the sentient beings who have appeared for more than a hundred years before, does the scene exist? It does not exist. Similarly, from the highest peak of existence to the lowest hell, have you seen, heard, or doubted someone who was born and has not died? Because there is none. As it is said in the "Collection of Special Utterances": The king with the seven precious jewels, and other small kings, ministers, practitioners, Brahmin patrons, etc., all these beings are impermanent, like scenes in a dream. As it is said: Below the earth, on the earth, above the earth, some who were born have not died, have you seen, heard, or doubted it? Therefore, what reason do I, a small being, have not to die? There is none, quickly...
