Meditating on death is the most supreme of meditations. The Bhagavan Shakyamuni Buddha, even after attaining the ocean-like samadhi of shamatha and vipashyana, had not attained omniscience. It is said that by meditating on the sixteen aspects of the four noble truths, such as impermanence, he comprehended them and attained the state of nectar. Therefore, even if one desires to quickly attain Buddhahood, one should meditate on death and impermanence. Furthermore, this is also a special instruction for the time of death. In the past, when the nun Moonbeam was about to die within seven days, the Arhat Marima instructed her to meditate on impermanence. Immediately after her death, she was reborn as a god and, having heard the Dharma from the Bhagavan, saw the truth. Those who wish to make offerings to all the Buddhas of the ten directions should also meditate on impermanence. As it is said in the sutra: 'If one meditates extensively on impermanence, it is the same as making offerings to all the Buddhas. It is the same as being comforted by all the Buddhas. It is the same as being prophesied by all the Buddhas. It is the same as being blessed by all the Buddhas.' Therefore, those who wish to receive the prophecy of enlightenment, those who wish to be comforted as the king of Dharma in the three realms, and those who wish to have their three doors blessed as the three vajras should also meditate on impermanence. Furthermore, those who wish to attain accomplishment should also meditate on impermanence. When the yogi Chö Yung asked a Khampa for instructions, the Khampa replied: 'You will die, and I will die.' By reciting this three times and meditating on it, he attained accomplishment. Those who wish to have special signs at the time of death should also meditate solely on this. For example, Yerwa's Zhangtsun only thought of death, and as a result, the gods sent him off with the sound of music, and so on. In short, the Bhagavan said: 'Among all footprints, the footprint of the elephant is the most supreme. Similarly, among all concepts, the concept of impermanence is the most supreme.' Therefore, whether a practitioner is superior, middling, or inferior depends solely on whether this concept has arisen in their mindstream. Before the head is ripe, do not be hasty, but only contemplate this.", "third_section": { "original_tibetan": "གསུམ་པ་ནི། ས་མ་ཡཱ༔ རྒྱ་རྒྱ་རྒྱ༔ འདི་མ་སྐྱེས་པར་ཆོས་ལམ་དུ་མི་འགྲོ་བས་ན་གནད་གལ་པོ་ཆེ། དམ་ཚིག་ཡིན་ནོ། །ཞེས་དང་། སྐུ་གསུང་ཐུགས་ཀྱི་གསང་བ་ཟབ་མོ་ཡིན་པས་འཆལ་བར་མི་སྒྲོགས་པའི་བཀའ་རྩིས་ཀྱི་ཕྱག་རྒྱའོ། ། གཉིས་པ་ཁྱད་པར་ཀྱི་སྔོན་འགྲོ་ལ། ཚིག་གིས་མཚམས་སྦྱར་བ་དང་།", "chinese_translation": "第三是:萨玛雅(藏文:ས་མ་ཡཱ,梵文天城体:समय,梵文罗马拟音:samaya,誓言)。 , "english_translation": "Thirdly: Samaya (藏文:ས་མ་ཡཱ,梵文天城体:समय,梵文罗马拟音:samaya,Oath).
