Confidence. Because the clinging to the appearance of the three spheres is fundamentally liberated, there is confidence without hope or fear regarding the cause of these two, good and evil. It is called the four confidences due to the distinction of cause and effect. This is also stated in the *Heap of Jewels Sutra*: "The four great confidences of unchanging view, also hold the measure of irreversible wisdom." And in the *Extensive Sutra*: "Confidence is four, two above and two below. Signs, measures, and many names are explained, nothing is excluded here. Regarding the qualities of the Teacher, etc., there is not even a speck of dust that causes joy to arise. Since awareness is originally enlightened, there is no need for me to be liberated again. Because I myself am a Buddha, I have attained that great confidence. Because I have realized that meaning, why would I hope for nirvana from elsewhere? The supreme great confidence is determined. Even if I hear about the way beings in the six realms, such as hell, experience suffering, because I am free from suffering without confusion, it is the confidence of a dharma without pity. Because there is no one wandering in samsara, how could there be fear of falling into samsara? The confidence of a dharma where the one who falls is not established. The four great confidences of unchanging view, also hold the measure of irreversible wisdom." And in the *Clear Space Sutra*: "Holding the measure of uncomprehending wisdom, it is gathered into the four great confidences above and below. The first two confidences above are: the qualities of the Three Jewels are inconceivable, even hearing immeasurable things does not generate joy. There is no hope for all the Buddhas above, that is the confidence of self-awareness. Even seeing the suffering of the six kinds of beings below, there is no fear, it is the confidence of awareness without confusion. There is no fear of falling into the three lower realms below, because the agent is not established, it is self-born. So it is said. This boundary, in some traditions, is the continuous end of the ten bhumis, and some identify it with Samantabhadra's light, but in reality, Samantabhadra's light, which is surpassed by cause, is the Dharmakaya of the great skillful path. As it is said, it is essentially the same as the spontaneously accomplished vidyadhara, so in reality, the final path and fortune are the same, but the intention is the same as Samantabhadra's light. In the *Small Path* it says: 'That is also the first, the first is equal in fortune, the second is the supreme lineage, the eighth is equal in fortune to the Bodhisattva, the third is equal in fortune to the tenth. The difference between intention and practice is superior.' And, considering this, Nubchen said: Samantabhadra's light is the place of abode.

That is the spontaneously accomplished, genuine vidyadhara. So it is said. This is called the Nirmanakaya of accomplished activity, because it is for the accomplishment of one's own benefit, and it is also called the Dharmakaya of accumulated merit, because it is the Dharmakaya of the path. Therefore, the two, Kuntuzangpo's Dharmakaya and Nirmanakaya, are not contradictory in their intention. From Rangshar: The characteristic of the Nirmanakaya is, activity accomplished and activity performed, are considered as two types. That is also this teaching: The Nirmanakaya of accomplished activity is, one's own lineage is liberated and manifestly enlightened, and then emanates Nirmanakayas. Outer and inner activity is accomplished, therefore it is considered the Nirmanakaya of accomplished activity. The Nirmanakaya of performing activity is, to whomever is to be tamed, to them it is shown there, and appears in harmony with others, but the meaning is like the former. So it is said. Third, the conclusion is: This is the Dharmata... So it is said. Here, "Dharma" refers to the impure, deluded appearance of mind and its aggregates, and the pure, fundamental appearance, the clear outer manifestation, the spontaneously accomplished eight gates, all appearances of the base and path. "Nyi" (Nature) refers to that appearing base, the self-appearing three kayas inseparable, or the two truths, or appearance and emptiness, or method and wisdom, or profundity and clarity, or space and wisdom, the ultimate meaning that is not a category, the Dharmakaya of the inseparable two truths. "Exhausted" means that the basis is the essence of the Sugata-garbha, the Buddha-dhatu, naturally enlightened, the twenty aggregates of samsaric dharmas that obscure it, the habitual tendencies of the two obscurations, the activity of mind and mental events, all except for the subtlest habitual tendencies of the obscuration of knowledge, and the conditioned aspect of the path truth, and the newly obtained stainlessness obtained from it, the appearance of the outwardly manifested base, together with the clinging to appearance, all the elaborations of grasping and being grasped, including philosophical tenets, are completely pacified. For those reasons, it is called Dharmata Exhausted. Therefore, in the Perfection of Skill it says: The characteristic of exhaustion at this time is, like unconditioned space. So it is said. Thus, the definite words of Dharmata, Dharma is where knowledge gathers and assembles, it is the holding of activity and characteristics, it is where self-appearance is shown, it is where individual lineages are held. Nature is where there is no fabrication, it abides freely and is pervaded by reality, it is original, innate, and ordinary, it is where the number of sounds, words, and names is exhausted. So it is said. Section section.
