If one realizes the nature of mind, what is the use? Those who always say this, I have not said that they are liberated. Also, in the "All-Good Mind Mirror," it says: Whatever appears, considering it as mind, is an obscuration for me. So, if you think that this contradicts what was said earlier about appearances being mind, it is not so. Just as a haze appears in the sky, due to the power of the mind's delusion, whatever appears, all the phenomena of samsara, are merely the self-nature of emptiness without appearance. Like the images of various habitual patterns in the mind, or rather, appearing in the mind's appearances. Because it is not one with the mind, it can be abandoned. Because it is not different, it arises from the mind's delusion. For example, the haze is not one with the eye consciousness, so it can be abandoned; nor is it different, because the self-characteristic of the object is not established. So, due to the pervasiveness of the Mind-Only school, or due to the power of what is made by the mind's realization, if one knows that the teacher of all actions is the mind, then just like that, all the appearances of the vessel and essence, desirable qualities, whatever appears, all appearances arise from the defiled habitual patterns of the mind's grasping and apprehending, appearing as if they exist when they do not. By realizing this, one must know that one has already realized the views below Mind-Only. The second is, the mind's own resonance... to the necessity. Having thus determined, the mind's habitual patterns merely play from its own resonance or own ability, outwardly appearing as white and red objects, and inwardly as the collection of names represented by joy and sorrow, and the discrimination of right and wrong, and hope and fear, rejection and acceptance, etc. When one knows that all are self-appearances without self-nature, then, from the entanglement of objects, the mind's bondage is released, and realizing the meaning of objectless, unobstructed great emptiness is the necessity. The second is, introducing the mind as without attachment and beyond names, and then stopping and binding on the basis of experiential habituation. Again, whatever appearance... to is it? Again, especially focusing the consciousness on one appearance, staring intently. For the discriminations of the three times of past, future, and present, without pre-welcoming or post-following, without abandoning, adopting, or modifying, releasing loosely. The self-nature appearance is unceasing and clear, the essence is unestablished and empty. At the time when appearances arise even more while being empty, is the mind the one who names forms and other objects as things, grasps their meaning, and thinks of them as real? These objects here, those objects there, mind, name, meaning, things, these.

Is it apprehended? Or does the mind think that the nature of this place appears to be like this? (Between these two, the one with the correct wording of the two interpretations is left. Note.) If according to the first statement, the word "tshul" seems incorrect. If according to the second statement, it is somewhat inconsistent with the previous selective question of "Is it the mind?", so it needs to be examined. When examined in this way, the cognizer is the mind. If it is thought that the way the self-characteristic and general characteristic of the object of the mind function is like this, then, between the object and the sense consciousness, does the shape and color of the mind that names it, established or not established, look as before? However, if it is thought that the object and consciousness are different, and the naming arises due to the power of dependent origination, that is also not the case. Because the encounter of object, appearance, and consciousness has not been established, as has been said before. Are all these named things ultimately permanent or impermanent? Thus, one is made to observe well. In general, a name whose meaning has not been established is like the name of a barren woman's son, so the self-characteristic of the name is also not established. From the aspect of the transformation of names, a knife stabs, and the stab becomes a needle, so it changes from the former to the latter. Even if one person is given a hundred names, the recognition that it is that person will arise. The body is also, if it cools down from the inside, the name will change into flesh, bones, and so on. The name of the mind is also given to the general term for many thoughts, so one name contradicts many meanings. Moreover, since the letters are scattered and exist in between, the name is not established as permanent. The name is suddenly given to that object, so it is not certain. Is it that he calls the name that? Or looking at it from the writing, all phenomena are just names, and names are just imputed. Because there is no relationship between name and meaning, in reality, even the name is not established. As the sutra says: The name is empty of name, there is no name in the name, all phenomena are without name, but all are expressed by name. Also, as it says in "Advice to King Achala": Name is not self, it is merely imputed. Also, as it says in the Guhyagarbha Tantra: All phenomena are merely given names, in accordance with the meaning of the teacher, they are shown by giving names and words, but there is no entity in the names and words. Also, as it says in Nagarjuna's "Examination of Things": Because the name empties the name, there is no name in the name.
