Ra. For example, like the experience of self-awareness. If the mind is not like that, it is unreasonable because there is no connection. Thus, establish the conventional truth. So it is said. However, if you think that this external appearance has existed from the beginning, and no matter how much you practice habits, it is impossible to become so solid, and it should not be the self-mind that exists in common appearance, then how do you know that it has existed from the beginning? Is it from the words of the old man? Can you realize that it is newly created in a dream? Just as dreams also appear to be the same as the old man of dreams and all beings, but it is not so. By practicing habits for a long time, it can appear like this. In the Manjushri Play Sutra, the son of the gods, playing, said to Manjushri: Manjushri, how should this external realm be viewed? Manjushri said: These external realms appear due to the power of the increasing habits of mental discrimination. The son of the gods said: No matter how you look at habits, how can they appear so hard and solid? Manjushri said: It can appear like that. For example, in the city of Varanasi (ancient Indian place name, now Benares), a Brahmin meditated on his body as a tiger, and as a result, everyone saw him as a tiger, and everyone ran away, causing the city to be empty. Even a little practice will become like that, so how can it not appear since habits have been practiced since beginningless time? It will definitely appear. After establishing it in this way, if you think that it is unreasonable that it is not pervaded by the mind, then is it truly pervaded by the mind, or does the general meaning truly exist in the mind, or is it merely falsely appearing as the pervasion of the mind-only on the mind? If you answer that it is the latter, the general meaning is not the actual mind, because it does not change with the presence or absence of the mind. Moreover, it is unreasonable because the object and the mind are mixed. It is unreasonable because the mind is inside and the object is outside, and the positions are reversed. The mind is knowing, and the object is inanimate, etc., and it is also unreasonable because the dharmas are incompatible. The mind will become the seeing and hearing of the root consciousness, or the object will become something that cannot be seen or heard, etc., and there are countless faults. It seems that the great teachers also attach great importance to this, but it can be affirmed that this is a great darkness of wrong discrimination. In "Self-Appearance," it says: Appearance is the yoga of the mind, everything arises from my mind.
