If it is understood that the grasper and the grasped are different from each other, and if it is understood that it pervades the different grasper and grasped, then it is as if one must directly see trees with unpleasant sounds, etc. In the appearance of terminology, the environment and the mind appear as two, but it should be known that in the state of terminology, it is not like that. In the ultimate sense, neither the environment nor the mind can be established, because neither appearance nor mind exists in its essence. Moreover, in this way, it is unreasonable to say that the external object is established differently from the mind by the three, scripture, reason, and pith instructions. The scripture is from the Sutra of the Ten Bhumis: "These three realms are only mind." And from the Lankavatara Sutra: "The mind disturbed by habit, appears as an object. But the object is not real, it is only mind. Seeing the object is wrong." The Commentary on Mind says: "In the manner of grasping and holding, consciousness appears. Apart from consciousness, there is no external object at all." Sambhuta says: "All these, which have external and internal nature, should be regarded as mind. Apart from mind, there is nothing else." The Guhya Sutra says: "The habits of beginningless samsara, completely cling to external objects. External objects are not real, mind appears as external objects." It can also be established by reason, because it is dominated by the mind, so the appearance itself can be established by the reason of uncertainty, because existence appears as non-existence, non-existence appears as existence, one appears as many, and many appear as one. This is also because existence does not see the meaning of the nature of reality, and non-existence clings to the self. As it is said: "Who does not see existence but sees non-existence, what is this darkness, darkness?" Moreover, just as hungry ghosts do not see the warm sun, but see the cold non-existence. For the darkness that does not exist in appearance, it is like an owl seeing the appearance. One appearing as many is also, just as the gods see many enemies and friends, and each element has a different appearance, the earth is considered earth, the sky and place are considered place, the views of the six kinds of beings in the water are different, and non-existence is considered place, food, burning, bathing place, the sky is also considered place, the earth, etc., because there are these, so it is the difference of mind.
