Because it is the main commitment of practice, one should rely solely on it. Thus it is said. The three seals are as before. The second fundamental chapter, concerning the explanation of Dzogchen of ground, path, and fruition, is a general measurement of the expanse of intention, a detailed explanation of the nature of reality, and a conclusion of these. The first part is that here, Trekchö is the ground and Tögal is the path, explained specifically for completion. Generally, the ground is divided into the original ground of primordial beginning, and the ground of the intermediate state, the abiding of one's own awareness, the way it abides, these two are taught as the great inseparability of ground and fruition, to be realized, or the ground of accomplishing activity, and the ground of the method of realizing it, these two exist. As it says in 'Treasury of Accomplishments': The expanse of the ground and awareness are twofold, explained as the ground of the method of realization, and the ground of accomplishing activity. At the time of the ground of the method of realization, this collection of habitual patterns is explained. Abiding in the ground of accomplishing activity, the nature of reality, primordial purity, is explained as appearance. Thus it says. The latter (commentary: on the ground of the method of realization) also has the ground, which is the self-arisen awareness of primordial purity, the appearance of the nature of Dharmakaya, Dharmadhatu, inseparable, perfected in the body, and the appearance of its form, or the ground appearance, perfected in the body, these two exist. Taking the former as dominant. As it says in 'Vast Expanse of Clarity': All-pervading wisdom abides thus, great clear light wisdom, from the beginning abides in three ways. Essence primordial purity wisdom, is separated from all ignorance and conceptuality. Nature spontaneous accomplishment wisdom, is the very essence of empty clarity five lights. Compassion all-encompassing wisdom, abides in unobstructed appearance emptiness. Thus it is said. The details of its first abiding state are, as it says in the 'Tantra of the Lamp of Wisdom of Lung': Secret Lord, in the center of one's heart, the Dharmakaya abides in the emptiness of non-established characteristics. Thus it says, and taking the latter as dominant. As it says in 'Treasury of Accomplishments': Explaining the ground of the method of realization, the expanse is in the lamp of expanse, awareness is clear like a string of beads. Thus it says. Because of abiding thus, the path of practicing it also arises in two ways, that is, Trekchö, which takes the ground of the method of realization, the Dharmakaya itself, as the path, and Tögal, which takes the ground of the method of realization, the Rupakaya, the clarity of awareness, as the path, these two are taught. Both of these are the ground of the intermediate state, the ground

Because it is the path of manifestation, it is called the yoga of the base and the path, or Dzogchen. Moreover, if the base is not grasped by Trekchö (Tibetan, Devanagari, Romanized Sanskrit, literal meaning), the fault of clinging to good signs and the form realm will arise; if it is protected by the speed of Tögal (Tibetan, Devanagari, Romanized Sanskrit, literal meaning), it will have the excellent distinction of realizing both essence and self-display. Therefore, it is also called the Dzogchen of the base and the path. In the 'Extensive' it is also said: The base is Trekchö (Tibetan, Devanagari, Romanized Sanskrit, literal meaning), the path is Tögal (Tibetan, Devanagari, Romanized Sanskrit, literal meaning), the fruit is the complete three bodies. Moreover, considering the two types of beings, those with minds focused on objects and those with minds of self-displaying awareness, it is said in the same text: For those with minds focused on objects, the instruction of Trekchö (Tibetan, Devanagari, Romanized Sanskrit, literal meaning) is taught; for those with minds of self-displaying awareness, the instruction of Tögal (Tibetan, Devanagari, Romanized Sanskrit, literal meaning) should be taught. To explain the meaning here a little: Originally, the nature of awareness, naturally pure, or the original first base, is the bardo between samsara and nirvana, so from that there is no possibility of liberation or confusion. The base appearance is the path that makes the two, liberation and confusion. When the general sound enters into the particular and abides in the temporary base, it is also called the base and the path because of the difference of the two bodies. Moreover, when one arrives at the first bardo base, it is the emptiness establishment of Trekchö (Tibetan, Devanagari, Romanized Sanskrit, literal meaning); when one contemplates Tögal (Tibetan, Devanagari, Romanized Sanskrit, literal meaning) on the path appearance of the second bardo base, the spontaneously accomplished eight aspects of the sambhogakaya, it is the emptiness establishment, therefore it is also established as the base and the path, which is very worthy of investigation. However, nowadays, because I don't know what is being said, I have tried to distinguish it a little with my ability. The fruit is complete in the base, meaning that the body, wisdom, activity, etc., are complete in the base, appearing from stainless purity, not newly produced or compounded, so the fruit is complete from the beginning. At that time, the original base becomes the suddenly stainless pure bodhi, or it also obtains the name of the base of accomplished activity.
