Now, because of the unwavering clarity, it is also called "Ocean Stillness." In particular, in the state of awareness like a clear ocean, the waves of thought naturally subside and remain undisturbed, so it is also called "Ocean Stillness." Awareness is in a state of clear luminosity free from elaboration, naturally immersed in meditation without separation, and moistened by the moisture of samadhi, so the essence of "Ocean Stillness" is unsurpassed. Here, since it starts from the middle, the other two have a cause-and-effect relationship. As it says there: "The mind has no name or form, Rest attachment, clinging, elaboration, discrimination in non-existence. All discriminating appearances and thoughts, Rest all in the state of non-duality. All elaborations, Rest in the state of resolution. Thoughts, intellect, memories and awareness of the mind, Rest in the state of great self-clarity. The collection of thoughts, the magical displays of the mind, Rest in the state of great self-luminosity. Movement, awareness, and realization, Rest in the state of great clarity and purity." This is recorded in the mixed sections of the tantras. In the "Essence of Jewels" it says: "The example of clear space is the sky, The door of manifestation is the movement of bright eyes. In the purity of the clear and pervasive Dharmadhatu, Rest awareness in profound clarity. In the vast expanse of uncreated, non-elaborate space, Rest movement in a state of pure clarity." The third is appearance gazing, which is that external white, red, and various things, through the mind's thoughts, mix sound and meaning, producing mixed clinging, such as "This is this," etc., clinging to the essence of things and their differences in a coarse and subtle way, and with the movement arising various discriminations, for all these, do not follow the object of clinging, do not negate the object, do not affirm the object, do not be grasped by the mind, with the confidence of knowing that the object and mind are free from elaboration, so that there is no self-nature in appearance, in clarity free from clinging, through training in the general and particular of phenomena, gazing at the place of gazing or the place of appearance, this is definitely the direction of training external skills. Through the training of the vajra and wisdom eyes, it is called gazing stillness. From the essence, awareness, appearance, gazing clinging have the characteristic of arising and liberating simultaneously, from the perspective of the result of realization, first taking the former as the basis, the latter two are cause and effect. As it says there: "Rest the nature in an unchanging state, Rest appearance in a state of remaining as it is, Rest these two in a state of no distinction, Rest the nature in a state of no substance, Rest appearance in a state of no negation or affirmation, Rest these two

Let it transcend karma! All the white and red realms of the outer, let them be without inherent existence in appearance! Thus it is said! Without movement in the mind, let it remain in a state of immobility! All the inherent nature of dualistic appearances in between, let it remain in a state of cutting off elaboration! All the appearances of objects that appear in the mind as collections of thoughts, let them remain in a state of appearing but without inherent existence! Thus it is said! In the Precious Essence Drop, it says: The appearing objects remain like a mirror, let the conditioned appearances arise without arising, naturally liberated! Thus it is said! It is very important to grasp this with the view that appearance and awareness are inseparable and of the same taste, do not carelessly entrust it to conceptual mind! Padma, I say! The fourth point, Rigpa Chokshyak (觉性任运自成): Rigpa is unborn, and view and meditation are placed in spontaneous perfection, these are two. Of these, the first has two parts: the actual and distinguishing its qualities. The first is: The mind, unmoved by the winds of conceptual thought, is like a mountain king placed still; free from the faults of dullness and turbidity, like an ocean placed still! The result of not being lost in appearances, remaining still, and being equal is that awareness bursts forth nakedly, and without wavering from that, like a king taking his throne and not changing! The potential merges into the ground, mind and awareness meet, samsara and nirvana turn their backs on each other! Like a minister being imprisoned and not changing! The flow of mental consciousness ceases, awareness gains independence! Awareness takes its own ground, and like the populace being subdued, it does not change! Since the basis of the five senses is the mind, by the power of its purity, the five senses have no basis, so samsara is emptied! Why? Because awareness is placed on the basis of primordial enlightenment, it is called Rigpa Chokshyak! Thus, in the Tantra of the Great Illumination of Meaning Beyond Elaboration, it says: That is the method of the king sitting on the throne and being placed on the throne! Its awareness is like a king, taking its own ground! The minister is the mind; it has breath without being separated from the body; since awareness has a horse, it is like a minister! It is like being imprisoned; since there is a wind of thoughts, it cannot move! The five senses are like the populace, so they are working! At that time, it is clear and without thoughts! That is like subduing the populace! Thus it says! In the Precious Essence Drop, it says: On the Dharmata of Kadak (藏文,梵文天城体,梵文罗马拟音,汉语字面意思) meaning, let there be no grasping of mind! In the clear, all-pervading, transparent state, let the Dharmakaya be released naked! Thus it is said! Furthermore, if combined with Tögal
