However, the terrifying hosts of Yama's messengers in hell, the ground of burning iron, the wheel of flames, and the assemblies of Shalmali demonesses who delight in calling out to themselves, these must exist. If they exist, in what place or direction are they? If it is thought that they are underground, then this great earth would not even remain as ashes. If it is thought that they are separated by empty space, even if that were the case, consider whether the Shalmali demonesses have existed from the beginning or not, as a habit. If they exist, then the object of attachment that you delight in should not appear, because it is not. If they do not exist, then it is equally reasonable that the state of habit appears in the body. Does the Yama with the terrifying form of the bardo have consciousness or not? Compared to you, is it gathered by a different continuum or not? The appearance of a dream is also like that. In particular, by grasping onto the non-existent as existent, it appears as if there is consciousness like a mountain, and because it appears as beneficial, harmful, and intermediate to it, it appears that there are beings with forms similar to one's own reflection, and the reflection of inanimate objects that are attached to being without a body appears as earth, stones, mountains, and rocks, etc., these have no reasonable difference, and there is no truth or falsehood. If that is the case, then all the happiness and suffering of others and oneself will become mixed together, and the locations will be different, and if all places are mind, then inanimate and animate will be mixed, and oneself will become many, and the Bhagavan Buddha would become all beings becoming Buddhas, and I would fall into samsara, causing distress to the objects of refuge of the three times, and one's own death would cause all of samsara to be cut off, and it would appear that such a thought is not right. If we examine this, if there is no self-continuum of sentient beings, then there also needs to be a valid proof that happiness and suffering exist separately, but that is impossible. If we know by the cries of being burned by fire, etc., the cries of calling out are like you not hearing and blocking sounds, etc., it is merely an illusion. If we know that they are different because the locations are different, then it is not certain that the previous knowledge and the later knowledge are your own, because the times and locations, etc., are different. Because the bodies are different, the previous and later bodies, etc., are different, and the continuum is not true, like a river, and because it is not momentary, there is no permanent entity, and if we examine "inanimate and animate do not have a common basis," that is not the case, because there is a place

If it is merely a phenomenon and not necessarily true, then it is impossible for the ālaya-vijñāna to leave behind the habits that constitute the body, because the ālaya-vijñāna itself is non-conceptual. There is no doubt that habits are left by consciousness, because consciousness is the basis and agent of all suffering and happiness, etc. Since this is the case, it cannot be other than mind, because this is the reason for the habits of consciousness. Previously, by showing the views of Chandrakirti, etc., I explained the formation of the sentient world and the container world of mind-nature, and this is also for this reason. However, the formation of the commonly accepted container world does not exist, just like a dream. Saṃsāra and nirvāṇa are both self-manifestations, therefore, even if there are many phenomena, their true state is not established in this way. In general, many people think that there is only one mind, or that clinging to one body is real, but the fact is not so apparent. In reality, there is neither a fundamental subject nor a mind, so how can sentient beings be a single continuum, or transform themselves into many? It is also impossible for one person's death to cause everyone to die, because there is no self-characteristic cause of other deaths, so it is unrelated; if there is a self-characteristic object, then the emptiness of all sentient beings after attaining Buddhahood, having a stable container, is also unreasonable; if there is no object that comes and goes, only thought, then who will go? The belief that the Buddha is self-established is also an attachment manifestation, therefore, all the above considerations are destined to be meaningless. Thus, by establishing all dharmas, including phenomena and quiescent saṃsāra, as primordially empty, if one cannot draw a definite understanding from within, then when thinking inwardly with the wisdom of thought: its nature is emptiness. Third, there is no desire for results: all things like this do not arise through causes producing results, if one examines the time when they appear as the mode of arising: they do not produce a result that is either existent or non-existent, or neither. Thus, through the three examinations of cause, result, and nature, even if one can understand that nothing is established in existence, non-existence, appearance, or emptiness, one can still develop a correct definite understanding of the emptiness of particular types. Moreover, the various realms of white and red appearances appear without interruption, and in the appearance itself, it is determined that its nature is emptiness, when examining emptiness and appearance as inseparable.
