Do the six faculties, such as sight, perceive forms, etc., as objects or not? If the former is the case, what are the characteristics of form, shape, color, appearance, size, etc.? If you examine them by turning inward and see nothing, how do you know that I exist? If you think it is because the Victorious, Perfect Buddha said, "I at that time," etc., that was said out of necessity, in accordance with conventions and expediency. Who would impose falsehood on a Buddha who possesses the roar of a lion of selflessness? However, because all sentient beings grasp at self, they doubt. Then, why prohibit seeing all the worms in the eaten Dhadhira and all the illusions? Furthermore, if it exists, is it one thing, or two, or neither? Or is it a non-thing? A thing does not exist because, although it appears, it is not perceived. If a non-thing becomes meaningless to you, then why grasp at self like eating meat? Neither two nor two is because contradictory things never gather in one direction, so the limit of existence is also negated. Furthermore, if that pervasive "I" cannot be one or different, how does it exist? If it is one, it is the nature of timeless, complete wholeness. If it is two, then like a rosary, it is many, and where is it recognized? Thus, this determination through detailed reflection, examination, and questioning is, firstly, merely hearing from the lama, a great hammer that destroys the mountain of grasping at self. Secondly, through careful determination by thinking, it is the profound essence of the key to obtaining subsequent tolerance. Finally, through habituation, this near path to quickly attain the path of seeing is also called non-existence or emptiness of essence. Since such self-grasping does not exist from the beginning, there is no need to destroy and demolish what already exists, so it is primordial liberation, or it is enough to simply know, because the fruit of emptiness has already been achieved, so in the end there is no going or wishing. Then, in determining the emptiness of the external self, there are three: cause, effect, and essence. First, all phenomena included in things and consciousness do not arise from self, other, or neither, as previously stated. Since it is sufficient to examine the three: object, faculty, and consciousness, it is easy to determine in general that there is no result for each individual cause, and no result for the collection, according to the general rule. This is without reason. If you examine the essence, in general, the distinctions between outer and inner, such as form, sound, smell, taste,

All actions are non-existent and unestablished. Why? Because form is not real; it appears because of clinging to many as one. Moreover, all coarse things have many differences between directions and targets, and if there is no direction, there is nothing. Therefore, merely taking a mountain as a whole and clinging to it as real, if examined carefully, nothing is established as one. However, if one thinks that the gathering of many exists, then the many, even more so, have no basis for accumulation, so there is no dharma of accumulation, like a pot without clay. However, if one thinks it exists, then all appearances are different ways of appearing that are not truly established. Because water is not established by its own nature, there are different appearances in the six realms. Because fire is not established by its own nature, there is the perception of it as a dwelling, as food, as heat and burning, and so on. Because earth is not established, there is the perception of it as food, dwelling, and sky. The sky as earth, the sky as dwelling, the sky as the sky. If you doubt that this is how the four elements are seen, it is not so. If it exists, there cannot be any other way of seeing it, but because it does not exist, anything can appear. The sun as a dwelling, and the lamp seen as darkness also exist. If appearances exist, then where are the appearances of dreams and the intermediate state? There must be a clear reason why hell and so on cannot be seen alive, and why the sun and moon of the intermediate state cannot be seen. However, if one thinks that things exist because form and so on are manifestly seen and heard, then why are there not two moons that are manifestly seen? If it does not function, it is because it generates eye consciousness. If one thinks that form and so on exist because there are large and small, sounds that are pleasant and unpleasant, smells that are fragrant and unfragrant, tastes that are delicious and not delicious, and touches that are soft and rough, that is not true. Because beauty and so on are established in dependence, and the sun and moon that are beautiful to one are the darkness that is not beautiful to another, like a one-legged and two-legged bird. Sounds, pleasant and unpleasant, and so on, are also like that. The bad sound of not dying to oneself is unpleasant, but pleasant to the enemy. The smell of decay is fragrant to flesh flies and so on. Salt is not delicious to dogs, but delicious to humans, and feces are delicious to pigs, and so on.
