One should learn the short practice. Do not abandon recitations and so forth. Abandon all idle talks. Keep words to a minimum. Then, one should learn the long practice. Sometimes, speak even when there is no need to speak. This is the first. Second, the order of abiding is: Except for using bodily gestures to communicate with others, abandon all idle talks from the mouth. Do not prohibit the recitation of mantras and readings. Abide in silence. The method of learning this is from the *Infinite Sutra*: "Then, the method of abiding is: Abandon prostrations, circumambulations, and recitations of sutras. Do not prohibit the recitation of mantras. Do not speak a single word to others. Only use bodily gestures." This is the second. Third, the practice is: Prohibit all verbal expressions such as mantras. Abide like a mute. Except for mental gestures, do not speak at all. Fourth, the order of stabilization is: Having abided in this way, increase the habit of continuity. The root of speech that connects mind and objects, body and mind, the karmic winds naturally subside. The movement of the mind gradually becomes pure. The *Infinite Sutra* says: "Then, stabilize and practice. Prohibit all speech. Abide like a mute. Do not make bodily gestures either. Only make mental gestures. If the activity of speech is cut off, it is half of the practice of yoga. The meaning of non-speaking will appear in the continuum. Quickly attaining Buddhahood is the key." This is the fourth. The necessity of this is that, originally, the activity of speech comes from the mouth. The thoughts in the mind arise simultaneously. With the key of integrating the three doors, restraining speech naturally tames the body and mind. Therefore, in general, the body receives the blessings of Buddhas, Bodhisattvas, heroes, and dakinis. When the true words of speech are accomplished, non-humans can also understand and communicate. Unprecedented fragments of clairvoyance and so forth arise in the mind. The meaning of the supreme accomplishment of non-speaking appears in the continuum. The grasping and the grasped of objects and mind naturally subside. The scattering of discursive thoughts ceases. Ultimately, one passes into peace within the realm of speech. From the *Secret Conduct Seed Tantra*: "Speech is like a mute. Do not make any gestures to anyone. Whoever practices in this way, the scattering of their mind will naturally cease." And from *After the Past*: "Speech is..."

Instructions on the stages, abiding steadfastly and repeatedly reviewing, who could deviate from this? All Buddhas of the three times, pass into sorrow within the expanse of speech. Thus it is said. Third, the key point of mind, the non-conceptual mind, with the heart vajra dharma seal, opens the treasure door of the dharmakaya, thereby liberating the mind from suffering. Therein are the actual and its necessity. First, the mind gazes into the center of the outer sky, and having gazed thus, the inner realm abides, the lamp of the target, the great clear-void union, in the midst of appearing with splendor, awareness abides as if dissolving, and the eyes roll into the center of the eyebrows and are restrained, thus the mind enters the realm of the expanse. The three kayas, awareness, emptiness, the nature of the trekchö view, is also boundless. The key point of mind is like this: mind abides in the realm, thus it is accomplished. The three key point instructions do not waver. In the outer realm of the empty sky, awareness itself abides as the uncorrected target. Abiding without distraction, in the outer realm of emptiness, the inner realm, the pure lamp, clear emptiness appears. Manifestly clear and without remainder, enlightenment is attained. Thus it is said. The necessity is, in 'Transcending the Mind': mind abides in the realm, thus it is accomplished. And in 'After Death': mind abides in the sky between the eyebrows, the three kayas, awareness, emptiness appear. And in 'Vast Expanse of Light': thus grasping the key point of mind, the three kayas, awareness, emptiness appear. Thus it is said. Temporarily, awareness together with the radiance of wisdom manifestly appears, and ultimately, the aggregates without remainder attain enlightenment as the dharmakaya. Second, the key point of the door, the specific miraculous power, causes the self-radiance of the clear space child to manifestly appear as a condition. There are three key points, in 'Transcending the Mind': the three key point instructions are inseparable. That is, the door and the object itself, and the key points of wind and awareness must be aligned. The door is to look with the eyes of the three kayas, the object is that which is free from obscuration. Wisdom is accomplished through slow wind and awareness. Thus it is said. For example, just as if a vital point is struck by an arrow, there is no choice but death, likewise, relying on these three, the nature of reality, suchness, the realm, awareness, are inseparable, there is no escape from the intention of the Buddha, the key point of the door causes it to be seen, the key point of the object causes it to appear and not change, the key point of wind and awareness causes the mind
