If it is not through the blessings and guidance of a truly virtuous spiritual friend that obscurations are removed, one cannot see the nature of reality through one's own presumptions and estimations. As it says in the sutras: "Without attending to and honoring a virtuous spiritual friend, even if one possesses the nature of the Buddha, one cannot see it." This illustrates what will be discussed below. Thus, not only ordinary individuals bound by all fetters, but even bodhisattvas abiding on the tenth bhumi cannot see it clearly, just like forms in the night. As it says in the Nirvana Sutra: "If this sutra is not spoken, then even those who have perfected the paramitas of a bodhisattva and abide on the tenth bhumi cannot see the nature of the Buddha, just like that." And as it says in the Uttaratantra: "The Buddha-dhatu and Buddha-bodhi, the Buddha-dharma and Buddha-karma, even pure beings cannot conceive of them; this is the realm of the guides." And: "Like a small child in the house where he was born, even the noble ones are like the image of the sun." The Great Sutra says: "For example, the orb of the sun, if carefully examined by the power of the eye, one cannot understand its essence, because the multitude of rays dazzles the eye. Likewise, the foolish and those of weak intellect, no matter how they examine the meaning of the essence, they will not see the secret essence; foolish children will be cut off." That is to say, if the dharmata that the noble ones cannot see is merely the all-pervading gotra, then it is impossible not to directly realize emptiness from the moment one attains the first bhumi. Therefore, one should contemplate how this is difficult to place anywhere else other than the attainment of the svabhavikakaya and the non-manifestation of the five certainties. Furthermore, if the object of omniscience is directly perceived, then what can be directly seen in the gotra, which is merely the potential for a fruit to arise from a seed? Even such an inference would be a slander against the great bodhicitta of the noble ones; who would dare to put maggots on the Bhagavan? Therefore, "correct acceptance is supreme." Even if one thinks that the seed produces the fruit like a tree, thus expanding the seed, the scriptures do not say that there is a svabhava-existing gotra. This is merely an explanation using the etymology of the cause-vehicle, and not the intention of the Buddha.

The ultimate point is the teaching of the inseparability of the basis and result in the Secret Mantra Vajrayana. Regarding the way these two express the basis, the sutras say, "All these beings have the potential to become Buddhas." The sutras speak of sentient beings as merely having the cause for complete enlightenment due to necessity. However, the Secret Mantra speaks of the result as being inherent. As it says in the All Secret Tantra, the Hevajra, the Guhyagarbha, and others: "One's own mind is the complete Buddha. One should realize it in the nature of mind." And, "The nature of mind is the complete Buddha." The Two Sections state: "Sentient beings are Buddhas, but they are obscured by adventitious stains. If those are removed, they are truly Buddhas." In any case, it speaks of actually being a Buddha, but in reality, it refers to the fact that the qualities of phenomena, such as the aggregates, have not yet manifested as the state of Buddhahood. Seeing emanations, sambhogakaya, etc., is the entry into the dissolution of dualistic appearance. Because the spontaneously accomplished nature of reality has not become one taste with one's own appearance, it is regarded as something other. Secondly, there is no error in the valid words of the scriptures because they are complete with the abandonment of the obscurations of attachment, obstruction, and absorption, and because they have attained the correct realization of knowing as it is and knowing as much as there is. Also, because they are the words of the Buddha who has exhausted the four causes of falsehood: for the sake of life, for the sake of cunning, for the sake of enjoyment, and speaking out of ignorance. As it says in the Praise: "Bhagavan, the Dharma that is realized at all times, all the sources of all kinds, are like an amalaka fruit placed in the palm of your hand, and become the object of your mind. All phenomena, moving and unmoving, one and many, each separate, like the winds moving in the sky, your mind has no obstruction." And, as the Ornament of the Sutras and the Manjushri Illusion Net agree: "With the speculation of not understanding the scriptures, other pure dharmas do not abide. Even if the righteous know, they still give precedence to the scriptures." Therefore, without the scriptures, one should not engage in teaching, debating, or writing for the benefit of oneself or others. If one speaks untruthfully, obscured by the stains of non-realization, wrong views, and biased views, the executioners of hell will use their tongue to plow the fields. As the Sixty Stanzas of Instruction by the noble teacher says: "Whoever for the sake of oneself and others
