Due to the maturation of the mind of clinging to the all-pervading (rje kun khyab), it becomes the result of delusion. As it says in the Longchen Rabjam: "From the perspective of dualistic perception, it is delusion. The essence, nature, and compassion, although truly existent, due to ignorance, arise as the three: cause, condition, and result." Therefore, clinging to the three co-emergent dharmas becomes the basis for delusion into the three realms of body, speech, and mind. Although it becomes the basis for delusion, the essence of the basis itself does not become good or bad. Just as a speckled rope appears as a snake, and a conch shell appears as yellow, they have never become that way. Therefore, the basis is entirely without defect. Secondly, regarding the explanation of how its essence, emptiness, serves as the basis of the foundation-possessing space, transforming from objects and self into the basis of delusion, according to the words of my own venerable guru, the great father Dudjom: The five primordial wisdoms of the ground and their five radiant colors are definitely the basis for the delusion of the five outer elements and the inner essence of the five aggregates, twelve sources, eighteen elements, afflictions, etc. Therefore, in the "Longsal": "The wind of the ground and the energy of awareness, the mind that grasps knowledge as self, from within grasps the five wisdoms. Mirror-like wisdom is the basis of water, equality wisdom is the basis of earth, discriminating wisdom is the basis of fire, accomplishing wisdom is the basis of wind, and the wisdom of the sphere of reality is the basis of space." Thus, the five secret-arising wisdoms possess the primordial radiance of the purity of the nature of reality, beyond light, spontaneously accomplished without aggregation or separation. At the time of the ground's appearance, the radiance of the outer manifestation appears as five lights. At the time of the body's accomplishment, the pure, indestructible bindu itself appears as the basis of the four elements, which is the inner arising. From that, the outer arising is the essence of the body and the four elements, both the actual and that which arises from it, or the light of nature, which is the inner arising that arises from the inner nature, and the image of the inner arising body becomes the basis for delusion into the light of the outer arising. And, from the objects of wisdom of the inner five wisdoms, the eight consciousness aggregates become the basis for delusion into sentient beings of the three realms. Therefore, in the earlier "Longsal Tantra": "Among the five examples of the basis of the five elements, the basis of wind is like the breath of a mouse, the basis of water is like a white bean, the basis of earth is like yellow sheep dung, the basis of fire is like a red thumb, and blue is inseparable from the sphere of reality, it is the basis of space." Thus, the essence

The basis of the elements is: right there, from the five lights of wisdom's self-display, clinging arises, forming the four elements. Thus it is said. From Longchen Rabjam: The five elements of wisdom's colors, from the very beginning are the power of wisdom itself. Without separation or dispersion, due to ignorance, the five-colored light-sphere, when analyzed, is mistaken for the five elements. Thus it is said. On the pure mirror-like wisdom, if analyzed, it is mistaken for water. Thus and so on, the manner of delusion and the result of delusion will be explained below. Furthermore, from that very source: Based on that, the manner of delusion of the inner essence can be distinguished as follows: The basis of delusion arises from the five wisdoms. Understanding this meaning, establishing space as the basis, turning to the side of the tirthikas who view the elements as the cause, this is transgressing one's own father's dharma; having a narrow mind's eye towards the great dharma; and also denouncing the statement that it is sufficient not to abandon space with the eye, these all reveal the inner aspect of not having definitively arrived at the arising of the luminous realm and the samadhi of expanding means. Secondly, explaining the manner of delusion from that: Generally explaining the manner of delusion from the six ignorances; specifically explaining with the cause, condition, delusion, both real and unreal. Firstly: From the Longsal: That also is deluded from the six ignorances. Thus, not knowing the original face of the original ground, mind arises from the play of the six ignorances; from the adornment of mind, intellect arises, and thus it is deluded into the impure triple realm. Firstly, the six ignorances that are the cause and condition of delusion are: The root ignorance of mind, which is the actual co-emergent ignorance possessing the same nature and pervasiveness, that is, the arrogance that arises as mind without knowing one's own awareness. The ignorance of the object of delusion is: On that very light-essence arising from the blessing of the youthful vase body of wisdom, not generating the realization of the non-duality, self-appearance, and emptiness of inherent existence, grasping the object as self-existent, thereby forming the world of suffering. The ignorance of the basis of delusion is: Due to the object of the four conditions, the basis or mind itself is impure, like the delusion of mistaking a rope for a snake, causing the afflictions to become coarse. The ignorance of grasping and conceptualization is: The wisdom of the movement of the six senses is obscured and not seen. The ignorance of unknowing and bewilderment is: Not knowing that self-appearance exists as light, and thus repeatedly wandering.
