Placing the awareness of self-nature in the continuum without hope or fear. Without letters, the fruit of all Buddhas is in the space of non-doing. Not exceeding this, the nature of reality cannot be accomplished. This is what it means. Second, summarizing its meaning: As it is said, "The awareness of secret mantra is the core of view, meditation, and action." Furthermore, in "Perfected Skill," it says, "The meaning of space and awareness is the essence of all view, meditation, and action. Self-arisen wisdom, free from grasping and being grasped. The meaning of space and awareness, everything is contained within this." This is what it means. Third, clearing the path of its errors and obscurations: Explaining the errors of the first three, and explaining that there are no errors in the latter. First, among the three of view, meditation, and action, there are three kinds of errors in continuously practicing the view. Nowadays, some great teachers believe that the view is to be confident in emptiness, that is, in something that cannot be seen at all, and cling to it tenaciously. Then, one will fall into the four formless realms. Furthermore, the light of luminosity itself is not formed into coarse or fine particles, and it is not in the object, but is not seen by others, and is neither completely non-existent nor obscured, because of the conceptions of obscured and unobscured eyes, for non-form, if one clings delightedly to the ultimate truth, which is seen by the eye of self-nature wisdom, and regards it as a real thing, then one will fall into the form realm. If one regards that emptiness-form as a sign and is bound by great attachment, then one will fall into the desire realm. Therefore, in "Vastness," it says, "If one clings to emptiness, one will fall into the four formless realms." Furthermore, in "Perfected Skill," it says, "Seeing one's own nature, it is not in the object." Furthermore, in "Commentary on the Upper Tantra of Chakrasamvara," it says, "Because it is cognized by obscured and unobscured eyes, therefore it is not form, nor is it something other than form, it is not what is cognized by the eye, nor is it what is cognized without the eye." Furthermore, in "Vastness," it says, "If one clings to having substance, one will fall into the seventeen abodes of the form realm and become like a stone. If one clings to the luminosity of the continuum as permanent, one will be bound by great attachment, and one will fall into the six realms." This is what it means. Second, there are also three kinds of errors in continuously practicing meditation: If one falls into calm abiding and equanimity, which are unmentioned, then it is only the karma of the higher realms

Merely relying on meditative quiescence (shamatha) and the like, one cannot find the path to liberation because it lacks the truth of wisdom's superior seeing (vipashyana). Therefore, the key to severing that is to place it after seeing the state of being of rigpa, the original purity of superior seeing, which is extremely profound. Furthermore, if it is clear, with distinctions and fixations, it will ultimately stray into the side of views. Therefore, the key to severing is to expand and seal it with non-grasping self-liberation. Furthermore, if one goes into a state of grasping emptiness and blocks the arising of experiences, one will stray into the side of the materialist (nyamapa) heretics. Therefore, in the Extensive Treatise, it says: "In the continuous yoga of meditation, there are three ways to stray: Meditating on equanimity and selflessness strays into the appearance of emptiness or the appearance of darkness. If one meditates on letters in samadhi, one strays into the place of attachment and clinging to samsara. If one meditates on non-conceptual emptiness, one strays into the view of annihilationist heretics." Thirdly, in the continuous yoga of conduct, there are three ways to stray: If one has not attained the conduct of mastering appearances or the meaning of self-liberation without attachment has not arisen in one's being, and one acts like a madman according to whatever arises, one will stray into the asura realm, so it is important to sever attachment. If one clings to verbal expressions and regards that as pure liberation, that conduct is not the conduct of the meaning, so it is important to destroy the clinging to the extremes of philosophical tenets. If one acts with ignorance, without attachment or clinging to appearances like a child, one will stray into the unstated, and if one does not respect cause and effect, one will stray into the state of an ordinary person. Therefore, it says in that very text: "In conduct, there are three ways to stray: Like this, all appearances, if one acts like a madman, one will stray limitlessly like the sky. If one speaks of nirvana but it is not the meaning, one will stray like the heretics. If one does not respect cause and effect in Dharma practice, one will stray into the state of an ordinary person." There is no way to stray in the continuous practice of the result, because the result is seen directly. Therefore, it says in the Fine Arrangement: "There is no way to stray for future generations." Those ways to stray do not exist in the nature of unchanging dharmata, but only arise in the mind of the practitioner. Therefore, it says in the Extensive Treatise: "Although there are no ways to stray or obscurations in reality, there are ways to stray in the being of the practitioner." And it says: "When the four maras of the root are severed, all ways to stray are severed. Dharmakaya is free from grasping and fixation, free from the mara of signs and ways to stray and obscurations." Fourth, the way to maintain the view of the method of equality in the three times is, in the Six Spaces...
