The meaning of non-existence is that the essence of Kuntuzangpo Tathagatagarbha, the embodiment of the three Buddha bodies, is inherently present within oneself. The face of the Buddha of the unconfused ground is seen as it truly is. As it says in the 'Extensive': 'Awareness, like a thread, is directly seen. The ground-abiding awareness is primordially pure. The path-appearing awareness is like a thread. This is the nature of the unconditioned. The thread is like a golden chain. The golden thread shines like crystal. It is like a stretched iron rope. By directly seeing this nakedly, one is freed from the clinging of mental judgment. The self-face awareness is like a continuous thread. It comes into the sky, free from going and coming. Although it has always abided in the ground, in between, without conditions, it is revealed by conditions. Directly, it arrives on its own ground. This is the nature of awareness. In the past, future, and present, it has not been made by anyone. From the very beginning, it is self-illuminating.' The characteristic of the thread is that, purified from all conceptual imprints, it is the unconfused Buddha. So it says. In the 'Refutation,' it says: 'The nature of the thread is that, purified from all conceptual thoughts, it is the unconfused Buddha.' So it says. Moreover, from the aspect of the appearance of clear light, the actual thread refers to the sound of the light channels and all its parts, such as light and bindus. The threads are countless, and the bodies of their parts are inconceivable. So it says. As it says in the 'Extensive': 'Look at the vajra thread of awareness. The four-fold wisdom lamp arises.' So it is said. Therefore, it is the self-radiance of the bodies of the five wisdoms. As it says in the 'Self-Arisen': 'The light body endowed with the five wisdoms is exceedingly clear in the thread. That is also going and coming, and moving and flickering.' So it says. This recognition of clear light is also given in the common tantras, and also in the glorious Great Wisdom Tantra: 'Bhagavan, how is it good to call it clear light? Where does it abide?' The Bhagavan said: 'Clear light is the nature of the bindu that abides in the center of the sky. Therefore, one will attain the great mudra.' So it says. Secondly, such awareness, the thread, from sentient beings to the Buddha, and at any time of the three bases, paths, and fruits, it remains stable without birth, death, or change. And, because it is not defiled by faults such as suffering and characteristics, grasping and apprehended mind, and mental phenomena, therefore its dharma
