So, how should one perform those prostrations of the three kinds of faith and respect? One should prostrate through possessing five special dharmas. That is, where to prostrate, by whom to prostrate, how to prostrate, the benefits of prostrating, and for what purpose to prostrate, are the five. The first is, to prostrate to the representation of the Three Jewels, the teachings, and the spiritual friends with lineage. The second is, like the sky, without fear. The third is, to prostrate in the manner of reverence and service, in the manner of meditation and practice, and in the manner of inseparable wisdom merging. That is, to prostrate with reverence in body, speech, and mind, to recite the words of prostration, and to aspire with faith and reverence, this is the first manner, and ultimately it is the prostration possessing the three kinds of faith and respect. In the Bhadracaryapranidhana it says, "With pure body, speech, and mind, I prostrate." This is also called the prostration of noble conduct. Furthermore, striving for the means to manifest the fruit through meditation, accomplishment, and practice is the prostration of familiarization with meditation, or it is also called prostrating in the manner of meditation and practice, and it is also called the prostration of the means of accomplishment. In the Hevajra it says, "Whoever realizes and sees, Whatever enters, here I prostrate." Furthermore, the act of prostrating, the object of prostration, and those who prostrate, recognizing these as inseparable, being confident in the state of seeing one's own face of awareness, this is also called the prostration of inseparable merging, and it is also called non-dual merging. In essence, this is called the prostration of seeing the excellent view. In the Peaceful and Wrathful Garland it says, "Just as water is placed in water, Just as oil is placed in oil, The knowable is without elaboration, I prostrate merging with non-dual wisdom." Here, if we consider the actual manner of prostrating, it is to prostrate through the three aspects of view, meditation, and faith-respect, but subsequent followers should prostrate according to their individual capacities. The fourth is, the first two purify the afflictive and cognitive obscurations, and perfect the accumulation of merit, causing it to ripen into the Form Body, and the latter purifies the cognitive obscurations, and perfects the accumulation of wisdom to be perfected, the fruit of ripening is to obtain the Dharmakaya. As Nagarjuna said, "Arising from merit and wisdom, One will obtain the two supreme bodies." The fifth is, to ultimately determine.
