This is the key to seeing self-luminosity with the eyes. Among the three keys to the emanation body's wisdom eyes revealing the nature of reality from within, the first is: By turning both eyes equally upwards and looking at the shape of the crown of the head, the karmic imprints of samsara are eliminated downwards, cutting off the cycle of rebirth in the lower realms. By restraining at the eyebrow center, the flock of thoughts is taken prisoner. By directing towards the sky, appearances are naturally enhanced, and there is the key to the unchanging nature of the wisdom of the expanse. In order to see the appearance of the great wisdom of its ground of being, it is called looking at the ground. Second, the Sambhogakaya's way of looking is: looking equally with both eyes. With its self-existing, spontaneously accomplished appearance, the pure realm of the Sambhogakaya is manifestly seen, which is the key to mixing samsara and nirvana into one taste. Manifest enlightenment and this are both branches of the Sambhogakaya's way of looking. Without the vajra posture and way of looking, looking as if straightening an arrow to the right stops delusion and does not separate from the nature of reality. Looking to the left makes the wisdom of the expanse easy to arise. The key to staying in the east is to press down slightly, which is the supreme method of putting the flock of thoughts into a cage. Third, the Nirmanakaya's way of looking is to look downwards in order to guide sentient beings, enjoying the appearance of all-pervading compassion and liberating samsara with naturally abiding samadhi. Looking equally is the key to manifesting insight. It is said in the Extensive Sutra: With the gaze of a lion, look at all the objects of delusion as one. With the gaze of an elephant, look at the two wisdoms of the expanse as one. With the gaze of a hermit sitting upright, also grasp the measure of all appearances. Each way of looking is in accordance with the posture. And, the certainty of these is also said in the Longsal: Direct both eyes and eyebrows towards the sky, open wide without change. And, for the Sambhogakaya, it says in the same text: Both eyes are the same size, without change, look and gaze to the right and left. And, for the Nirmanakaya, it says in the Extensive Sutra: Lower the mind slightly and look at the sky, and the pure realm of the Nirmanakaya will be seen. And, in the Secret Sound Tantra, it says: Downward, upward, and with power, these are known as the three ways of looking. And, in the Tantra of Equality with the Sky, it says: With the way of looking of the Dharmakaya, one is liberated from the three realms of samsara in general.

The Sambhogakaya destroys the basis of existence, the Nirmanakaya liberates in the Buddha-field, so it is said. For all, the key is to gaze without moving the eyes. Otherwise, due to the instability of the appearance of space and the obscuration of impure far-reaching views, one will be obscured. Therefore, in the "String of Pearls" it says: The door is that itself, unmoving, and the two that illuminate, unmoving. And in the "Consequence" it says: The key to the unmoving far-reaching, at this time combine with the three ways of looking. And in the "Clear Space" it says: One should look with slightly closed eyes. And in the "Vastness" it says: With slightly closed eyes, look at the space. Considering this, in the "Tantra of the Ornament of the Vajra Essence" it says: Just as a lamp is placed inside a vase, it does not reveal light on the other side, if that vase is broken, then the lamp will become clear. That is, one's own body is the vase, having been well broken by the mouth of the guru, that itself is like the lamp itself, it is the showing of the union of thatness. Abiding in that union, so it is said. The way to break it well with the mouth of the guru is, in the "Kalachakra" it also says: From all over the sky, the mind of attachment and the eyes do not close, completely entering the vajra path. From emptiness, smoke, mirage, the very clear and stainless appearance of space itself and the lamp, burning and the moon, sun, vajra and the supreme part and bindu will be seen. In its center, the form of the Buddha is the countless enjoyment body separated from object and aspect. So it is said. Secondly, the key to the object is, for the first karmic person, the support of the Dharmakaya is the sun, the support of the Sambhogakaya is the moon, the support of the Nirmanakaya is the lamp, and one should look at the manifest enlightenment of the mandala, etc. For those of middling and supreme habituation, entrusting the unchanging vajra support to the sky free from the three conditions, from those supports, the two lamps of the inner space become clear and abide, and the awareness of that abides without moving like a stream, it is called the way of looking that unites space and awareness. In the Secret Conduct Seed Tantra it says: The way of looking at space and awareness is, look at the sky free from obscuration. And in the "String of Pearls" it says: The key to the object also has three aspects, the pure space is abiding, likewise the nature of awareness abides, all appearances abide. And in the "Vastness" it says: The object is obscuration
