And, from Rabjampa, with the vajra full lotus posture, physical training benefits the mind. Attachment to the body diminishes, and sins are purified. It is said. In the second chapter of "After Passing Away," it says, "Full lotus posture, soles of the feet together, straighten up. Bring your palms together at the crown of your head." Thus it is said. Second, training the speech with syllables: From Rabjampa, "Speech resides as the syllable (Tibetan: ཧཱུྃ, Devanagari: हूँ, Romanized Sanskrit: hūṃ, Literal meaning: Hum), through enhancement and cultivation, and entering the path of suppleness, thus training the speech benefits the mind, and the defilements of attachment to speech are purified." The meaning of what is said has four aspects. First, enhancing stability on the outer appearance: In the posture of the seven aspects of Vairochana's body, visualize a blue (Tibetan: ཧཱུྃ, Devanagari: हूँ, Romanized Sanskrit: hūṃ, Literal meaning: Hum) at the heart center, making it appear clearly. From that, many (Tibetan: ཧཱུྃ, Devanagari: हूँ, Romanized Sanskrit: hūṃ, Literal meaning: Hum) syllables emanate from the right nostril, entering all objects of outer appearance. As soon as they touch the alkaline water of chai, contemplate that all objects dissolve into (Tibetan: ཧཱུྃ, Devanagari: हूँ, Romanized Sanskrit: hūṃ, Literal meaning: Hum), and recite the (Tibetan: ཧཱུྃ, Devanagari: हूँ, Romanized Sanskrit: hūṃ, Literal meaning: Hum) song sweetly and slowly. For the sake of enhancing stability on the inner aggregates, the emanating (Tibetan: ཧཱུྃ, Devanagari: हूँ, Romanized Sanskrit: hūṃ, Literal meaning: Hum) syllables, one emanating, two arising, then gathering back, enter from the left nostril, filling the inside of the body with (Tibetan: ཧཱུྃ, Devanagari: हूँ, Romanized Sanskrit: hūṃ, Literal meaning: Hum). Finally, contemplate the body as a collection of (Tibetan: ཧཱུྃ, Devanagari: हूँ, Romanized Sanskrit: hūṃ, Literal meaning: Hum) particles. The measure of success is when you can generate the pride of your own body being (Tibetan: ཧཱུྃ, Devanagari: हूँ, Romanized Sanskrit: hūṃ, Literal meaning: Hum). Second, cultivation: The first of two is cultivating the outer appearance: From the (Tibetan: ཧཱུྃ, Devanagari: हूँ, Romanized Sanskrit: hūṃ, Literal meaning: Hum) at your heart center, the emanating (Tibetan: ཧཱུྃ, Devanagari: हूँ, Romanized Sanskrit: hūṃ, Literal meaning: Hum) syllables that correspond to the environment, contemplate all objects being pushed and pulled, bound, and destroyed into nothingness, and sing the (Tibetan: ཧཱུྃ, Devanagari: हूँ, Romanized Sanskrit: hūṃ, Literal meaning: Hum) song. The measure of mastery is when the grasping of appearances subsides into its own place in between. Second, cultivating the inner self: By reciting the (Tibetan: ཧཱུྃ, Devanagari: हूँ, Romanized Sanskrit: hūṃ, Literal meaning: Hum) with certainty, the (Tibetan: ཧཱུྃ, Devanagari: हूँ, Romanized Sanskrit: hūṃ, Literal meaning: Hum) with the four characteristics of being dark blue, sharp, swift, and powerful, one span high, arises from within, completely piercing through the entire body, making the objects finer and the (Tibetan: ཧཱུྃ, Devanagari: हूँ, Romanized Sanskrit: hūṃ, Literal meaning: Hum) more subtle, until finally the body rises into the empty sky. During this time, combine repetition and contemplation into one. The measure of mastery is when the grasping of the body naturally subsides. Third, seeking suppleness: Plant a small branch in front of you. From the (Tibetan: ཧཱུྃ, Devanagari: हूँ, Romanized Sanskrit: hūṃ, Literal meaning: Hum) at your heart center, visualize a (Tibetan: ཧཱུྃ, Devanagari: हूँ, Romanized Sanskrit: hūṃ, Literal meaning: Hum) rope wrapped around the base of the object of focus, and the previous (Tibetan: ཧཱུྃ, Devanagari: हूँ, Romanized Sanskrit: hūṃ, Literal meaning: Hum) syllable standing upright at the tip. From that, without letting the mind wander, hold onto the wind, consciousness, and the three (Tibetan: ཧཱུྃ, Devanagari: हूँ, Romanized Sanskrit: hūṃ, Literal meaning: Hum) combined into one, and recite the (Tibetan: ཧཱུྃ, Devanagari: हूँ, Romanized Sanskrit: hūṃ, Literal meaning: Hum) sweetly and for a long time. If you can remain stable, then you can be capable of shamatha and vipassana.
