The darkness of meditation is like a stone block; the obscurations of non-comprehension are severed by cutting off the straying with emptiness of calm abiding. The obscurations of meaningless suffering and contortion are severed by cutting off the straying with the clarity of insight, striking the self-arisen lamp of awareness, the vajra chain, at the point where one meets one's own face. Therefore, the remaining two are also cut off by eliminating the two enemies of calm abiding and insight, which are the opposites of those, generally pervading, so that straying and loss are cut off. The practice of calm abiding and insight, which are the opposites of alternating meditation, I have done as if cutting off a river's flow, and it should be known from that. In the tantra of stainless, primordial purity, it says: When the enemy of non-comprehension is rampant, the enemy of clarity is also eliminated by sinking. Abandon activity and sit calmly. Do not close the doors of the five senses. When the mind is elated and excited, remain without distraction or movement. Hold the breath slightly, loosen the lower gate, and lower the mind. Do not stay in a cold place, and drink a small amount of good wine, just enough to not get drunk. Guard the two thieves like guarding sparks. When you are unaware, direct your mind to what you are doing, and awaken awareness in its own place. The thief-child of mental thought steals non-comprehension. However, awareness is the nature of things. This is the method of learning through meditation. Abide in it naturally, without artifice. The nature is not to fall into sinking or excitement. Clarity and non-comprehension, without separating those two, the great self-master, self-awareness, remains as the king. The three kayas, the nature of precious luminosity, is the manifestation of that. In that way, it is eliminated. Third, eliminating the demons of conduct: Specifically clinging to enjoyment, specifically clinging to knowable qualities, specifically clinging to attachment to cause and effect, specifically clinging to the objects of afflictions left to their own, by negating and affirming, specifically clinging to the pretense of desire and power, specifically clinging to the contrived service. By seeking confidence in the self-arisen, self-pacified liberation of specific clinging, all the demons of conduct are liberated in their own place. In All-Illuminating, it says: Whatever one specifically clings to, that is the totality of all demons. If there is no specific clinging, then demons do not arise. For any of the seven demons of conduct, self-arisen, self-appearing, self-liberation is the key. Fourth, eliminating the straying of the result: The result, the three kayas, the mind of enlightenment, is spontaneously accomplished, as previously explained, and it should be known from the subsequent teachings on the suchness that is not other. Second, showing it by gathering it through the door of obstructing and binding:

Ga (Tibetan seed syllable). By directly encountering the self-illuminating wisdom in its nakedness, and by determining it, and by separating from the extremes of mental speculation, and by deciding on the view of clear and self-liberating, and by cutting off the deviations, as it is said in the *Transcending the Mind*: "The nature of the view is seen, there is no alteration of mental words." Self-clear, self-appearing, without falling into the grasping and the grasped, expanding the breadth widely, establishing the wisdom of clear depth, and remaining impartially, by such meditation, cutting off the deviations, as it is said in the same: "The meditation of not deviating is: the doors of the senses are clear, the thoughts of the mind do not change, the mind that examines the knowledge itself, does not escape outwards, not being clear with characteristics, not falling into isolated emptiness, not being continuous bliss, not being indifferent numbness, the rest of clear awareness, the path of purifying wrong paths, the grasping easily moving inwards, the grasping of clear appearance, the transformations of colors into letters, etc., if these do not fall into any side, it is the meditation of not deviating." From that state, letting whatever arises self-liberate is the conduct, cutting off its deviations is: thoughts arise and liberate like lightning, in between there is no discrimination of abandoning and adopting, not meditating on the benefits of introduction, abiding on the appearance of whatever appears, liberating on the awareness, not attaching to dualistic dharmas, letting it go naturally, as it is said in the *Lion's Accomplishment*: "The unobstructed conduct of Dzogchen itself, does not become accomplished by doing, but culminates in three: non-attachment, self-liberation." The fruit is: recognizing that the self-abiding awareness is the great spontaneously accomplished fruit, taking hold of this position with a single determination, thereby cutting off the deviations, as it is said in the same: "The habit of Dzogchen is already present, it does not arise from meditation, but culminates in four: immovability, non-elimination. The meaning of Dzogchen is difficult to realize, it cannot be found with symbolic words. It culminates in twelve secret instructions. The awareness of Dzogchen is non-conceptual, it does not become realized by meditation, but culminates in one great transfer. The self-born wisdom of Dzogchen itself, it does not become accomplished by practice, but culminates in two certain essences. The fruit of Dzogchen is the single decision, it does not become perfected by generation, but culminates in three instructions of non-attachment."
