Being liberated in abiding is also called liberation from extremes. The wisdom of individual self-awareness, the Buddha's intention beyond speech, thought, and expression, is attained from within oneself, and is also called liberation from extremes. Since this is the path of the Buddhas and their heirs, in the Mother Tantra it says, "Speech, thought, and expression are all absent," and in the Garland of Pearls it says, "Because it is liberation from extremes, the four extremes cease." And in Kunsel it says, "Eliminating others is: by abiding in awareness, eliminating matter; by abiding in emptiness, eliminating things; being non-dual, eliminating dualistic appearances; being self-arisen, eliminating causes and conditions; being spontaneously accomplished, eliminating hopes and fears; being pure, eliminating defilements; with the existence of non-existence, eliminating the extreme of nihilism; with the non-existence of existence, eliminating the extreme of eternalism. O Vajra Holder, maintain it well! The essence of the basis of true meaning is that it even deviates from those of the same kind as oneself, being liberated from the eight aggregates that are merely similar in awareness. How is it liberated? Because there is no increase or decrease, it is liberated from the alaya consciousness; because there is no self-grasping, it is liberated from the afflicted mind; because there is no grasping of subject and object, it is liberated from the mind; because there is no birth or cessation, it is liberated from and deviates from the five sense consciousnesses. O Lord of Secrets, it even deviates from those who are similar in understanding emptiness; it is not the naturally pure sky with color, nor is it with habitual tendencies. O Great Bodhisattva, it even deviates from those of different kinds; because awareness and kind are different, it is not matter; it is not the phenomena that are composed and produced from the four outer and inner elements that are different in kind from emptiness. Son of the lineage, great meaning, know that one is liberated from both. It is free from grasping things that are not both. Thus it is said. In the Lamp Array it says: The unliberated is liberated by the liberated; the liberated is liberated by the unliberated; both are liberated as non-dual; the non-dual liberates both. Thus it is said. In this way, one liberates the other, all extremes are completely liberated in their own place, transcending both liberation and non-liberation, the first holy one is the primordial Buddha. Thus it is said. In this way, understanding that all phenomena are the self-aware primordial Buddha seen in naked awareness, one does not need to rely on the act of liberation, and is liberated without abiding in any extreme or elaboration, and from the key point of being present in an indivisible instant, one does not rely on the extreme of time, at the time of birth and liberation.

Due to the key points of being impartial and the absence of a basis for appearance and awareness, without relying on effort, abiding in the un-fabricated self-nature, the meaning of ultimate liberation is realized. Such Dharmakaya, being the great one free from all directions, does not fall into the abyss of any conceptual clinging. Like a garuda soaring in the sky, it abides without falling into or touching any cliffs or high mountains, thus not dwelling on the edge, without obstruction, liberated in its own place. As it is said in the Uttaratantra: 'The mind that abides in its own clarity, is liberated by the key point, therefore without partiality; liberated by time, therefore without dependence; liberated without effort, therefore without diligence.' And: 'The practice of the meaning of the view is like a great garuda soaring in the sky, practicing effortless, spontaneously perfect great completion.' Thus it is said. Secondly, the practice of the meaning of intention, because self-liberation has no antidote, relying on the key point, without completely depending on the guru's instructions, is shown as follows: Thus, all the phenomena of appearance and sound, the three of arising, abiding, and liberation, all arise from oneself; abiding also abides in one's own state; liberation also liberates in one's own state. For example, like the sky and clouds, self-arising and self-liberating, the self-occurring times of the three of arising, abiding, and liberation, and appearance and emptiness, etc., these themselves, other than from oneself, there is no dharma nature whatsoever, therefore liberated by one's own nature. It is not that one has performed the action of liberating oneself, nor is it that it has been liberated by other conditions, but other than the self-liberation of appearance upon appearance, there is no other cause or condition for liberation. That itself is liberated in that itself, therefore there is no basis for a dwelling place. Since mind itself has no turning back or place to go other than from itself, therefore, it has never been born, there is no place from where it came. That itself, without becoming a reversed dharma that is not itself, is called self-liberation. Key point summary: Thus, at any time of arising or liberation, understanding that its nature exists as self-liberation, therefore there is no need to perform the action of liberation. For example, like recognizing a friend who was mistaken for an enemy, those who abide in the reality of awareness, in the spontaneously liberated Dharmakaya nature, after recognizing the self-face of intention, abiding in one's own ground, then the conceptual thoughts of power, like a snake's knot, without anyone untying it, dissolve on their own, disappearing without a trace. As it is said in the Gongdü Sutra: 'Liberation is self-arising, not from others.' And as it is said in the General Mantra Sutra: Afflictions
