Because one has become lost, the Great Orgyen said: "View descends from above, conduct ascends from below." And: "View is higher than the sky, the cause and effect of karma is finer than flour." Therefore, as an aid to view and meditation, one must initially rely on the lineage. Second, the conduct of a yogi like seasoning with salt is: From that, having gained a slight increase in mental capacity, in this conduct of the three doors, seeking the instructions of hearing and thinking; abandoning places that are the cause of delusion; abandoning deluded speech; cutting the net of doubt; abandoning one's own homeland, etc., like a madman without any reliance; like a dog or pig without choice in food and clothing; being free from the harm of humans and non-humans, being able to control anything; like a lion strutting from the snowy mountains, possessing the demeanor of a view that is not overwhelmed by appearances, and so on. Third, the conduct of a king ruling the land is: arising from the path of a yogi, and within that: The conduct of compassionate longing is: like a mother to her only child, led by the Bodhicitta in which the self-radiance of emptiness dawns as great compassion, eliminating the suffering of sentient beings in samsara, and is the conduct of accomplishing lasting happiness; the conduct of great compassion is: that is also the complete practice of the activities of body, speech, and mind; these two are established from the perspective of motivation and action. Those are also: Alas, alas, Great Sage Shakyamuni, listen! Listen well to what I have taught! Who unites yoga with meaning? Become accustomed to this conduct! With the conduct of a bee, taste the flavor of all dharmas! With the conduct of a wild animal, abandon places that are the cause of delusion! With the conduct of a mute, abandon deluded speech! With the conduct of a wren, cut off doubts about secret mantras! With the conduct of a madman, abandon places of solitude! With the conduct of a lion, abandon the mind of fear, and wander in the charnel ground! With the conduct of a dog or pig, abandon the discrimination of clean and unclean! With the conduct of a bear, practice mindfulness and thought as they arise! With the conduct of a young child, abandon deluded clinging, rigid habits! With the conduct of a swan

Likewise, guiding with words that accord with the world, with conduct like that of an elephant, fundamentally reversing the battles of samsara. With conduct like that of a mountain goat, abandoning the notions of son and enemy. With conduct like that of a fish, also generating contentment, being content with desire, limiting the time. With conduct like that of a mule, not propagating the seeds of samsara. With conduct like that of a Brahmin, abandoning the possessions and food of others. With conduct like that of a hero, distinguishing the boundaries of samsara and nirvana. With conduct like that of a spring, keeping the support of mindfulness in its own place. With conduct like the wheeling of a spear in the sky, acting with unobstructed penetration upon all things. With conduct like the wind in space, abandoning the thoughts of grasping and being grasped. With conduct like that of a garuda, cutting off the cliffs with waves. With conduct like that of a mountain, acting upon the unchanging, self-pure state. With conduct like that of a great hail, acting without turning back from appearances. Thus. Moreover, from the Lion's Perfect Strength: However, the secret meaning is as follows: the conduct of ungrasping objects, the conduct of self-appearing means, the conduct of detachment without attachment, the conduct of the path of emptiness, the conduct of effortless appearance, the conduct by the power of asceticism, the conduct of ungrasping samsara, these are known as the seven conducts. The conduct of ungrasping objects is shown as being like a beggar. The conduct of self-appearing means is shown as being like a wild animal. The conduct of detachment without attachment is shown as being like a young child. The conduct of the path of emptiness is shown as being like the ocean and stars. The conduct of effortless mind appearance is shown as being like a mad elephant. The conduct by the power of asceticism is shown as being like a tigress. The conduct of ungrasping samsara is shown as being like the wheeling of a spear in the sky. Thus. Moreover, from Kunsel: The conduct of non-remembrance, the yogi should not pretend to be disciplined, but should act like a mad elephant. Like a bee sipping flowers, the yogi should act without attachment in whatever way is comfortable. The conduct of great compassion, like the essence of the sun, should be to perfect the benefit of beings with body, speech, and mind. The conduct of compassionate longing, like a mother with an only child, the yogi should act to benefit beings. Thus it is said.
