If realization occurs, one should adopt as a motto the exhaustion of mind and the dispelling of delusion without any attachment. If one has not realized the experience and realization of view, meditation, action, and result, one should adopt as a motto the state of being without action, effortless, and beyond mind. Thus it is said. Like this, after understanding the three paths of straying, obscuration, and confusion, or the dangers of straying, losing one's way, and making mistakes, through the wisdom of hearing, and determining it with the wisdom of contemplation, one should examine whether it has arisen in one's own mindstream; if it has arisen, one should practice how to cut it off and adopt it as a motto, as described above, and thereby cut through it in the state of great wisdom that liberates from dangers. However, from the perspective of abiding in ordinary awareness, even through the wisdom of meditation, one should discern and analyze whether straying and obscuration have arisen, and based on the determination of contemplation, one should make a decision from contemplation in order to adopt the exhaustion of phenomena and the great purity as a motto. The third point is that in order to abide in the spontaneously present, uncorrected state of the Great Perfection of Union, one should focus the wisdom of meditation on the essential points and cut through it in one stroke. There are three aspects: the preliminary, the actual practice of making a decision with the wisdom of meditation, and the way of cultivating experience that follows and is attained. In the Root Tantra of the Sound Exceeding Transformation, it is said: 'Furthermore, I will explain the life-force of meditation, apply it with certainty through the teachings of the mind, and also all the essential points of meditation are considered to be of three types: preliminary, actual, and subsequent.' Thus it is said, in order to reverse attachment to the three realms, the division of the boundaries of body, speech, and mind is done in the same way as the two paths of the emptiness of other appearances are practiced in common. In order to fundamentally reverse attachment to body and speech and to tame one's own mind so that it abides in its natural state, the two ways of dividing the inner boundaries also lead the mind into the correct path. In that very tantra, it is said: 'Ema, how wonderful! If the boundaries of samsara and nirvana are not distinguished, the connection of the body, speech, and mind of the three realms will not be severed. Therefore, I will explain the division of the boundaries of samsara and nirvana, which has three aspects.' And so on, and 'If a person has not tamed his own mind, it can be tamed through non-conceptual meditation, and after abiding in its natural state, it is one's own.' 'First is the order of training, the actual practice relies on one's own mindstream.' And so on, in general, just as the inner boundaries are divided, in particular, after establishing the two types of selflessness of phenomena and persons, the body, speech, and mind become emptiness without relying entirely on the words of hearing.

The way to induce certainty through the view of Dharmata based on thought-arising is as follows: Search for the basis of designation of the body's name, searching even within the realm of subatomic particles. Practice emptiness, illusion, and dream-like states through the key points of whether objects exist or not, and whether there is going or coming. Speech and mind are also practiced in the three aspects of outer, inner, and intermediate. Examine and analyze the objects and masters of the three places of arising, dwelling, and going. The detailed method of practice is clearly explained in the previous sections on "Searching for Faults" and "Cutting the River's Flow." To summarize and explain with scripture: In the "Refutation of Objections" (Vigrahavyavartani) it says: "The practice of the mind is as follows: Outer is the object, inner is the body; in between, the body and mind are bound together, acting through the actions of speech; the supreme one practices mind with mind; the object is existent and nonexistent, contemplating through the key points of going and coming; the body is name and subatomic particles, examining through various distinctions; in between, the combination of body and mind is examined; through the distinctions of speech, each individual wind, going and coming, is accomplished by mixing the non-duality of time; the supreme mind is going, coming, and dwelling, practicing without examining reasons; the degree of proficiency thus attained is also grasped; thus, its characteristics are perfected." And so on. Through these, all common and supreme siddhis are generally accomplished, and it is necessary to make practice the key point and to enter the authentic path. In that very text, it says: "By practicing the body, taming the mind itself, and perfecting the actions of speech, the mind itself enters the path. Relying on the wind, body and mind separate; to cut off the escape route of the three realms; reverse attachment to body and speech from the root; for the equality of the precipice of the six realms; scrutinize the key points of body, speech, and mind." And so on. Having perfected conduct in this way, constantly establish the manifest key points. And so on. Secondly, the main point is to determine the great natural state of affairs with the wisdom of meditation: Explaining the faults of not meditating; explaining the reasons why meditation is necessary; and explaining the actual meditation. Of these three, the first is: Among the three wisdoms of hearing, thinking, and meditating, the primary one is the wisdom of meditation. Just as one is not satisfied if food is available but not eaten, if one does not meditate, there is no time to be liberated from samsara, nor is there a direct experience of Dharmata, and there is no grasping and apprehending of the focused mind, nor karma and afflictions.
